S&B's Burger Joint — Restaurant in Oklahoma City

Oh my! Where do I start? S&B's Burger Joint is absolutely amazing! The burgers are perfectly cooked and prepared and are incredibly delicious. They have some strange sounding combinations that you would think would not be good together, but are absolutely fantastic! This is the first place I've ever been where I could not truthfully say that I could grill a better burger at home. They bake their own buns, so they are fresh and very well balanced to make the ol' taste buds dance. You get to specify how well done your meat patty is cooked and actually did a perfect job cooking our hamburger patties per our order. Our young waitress looked atrocious with metal piercings everywhere, but she was probably the most kind, patient, knowledgeable and helpful waitperson I've ever had. She was busy, yet still patiently spent at least 10 minutes with us explaining each burger, listening to what we liked and recommending the ones she thought we would like best. She noticed that we weren't eating the cheese dip that came with the french fry appetizer and asked why. We told her it was not cheesy enough and lumpy. Without being asked, she went in the back and had them fix us a bowl exactly the way we like it! She recommended we order sliders instead of just one burger. That turned out to be perfect advice and we'll be doing it that way from now on because neither my wife nor I could decide which one we like best. Now these sliders are not the usual 2-3 bite wimpy ones, they are a little over half of a large size burger and they don't skimp on the other ingredients. We both ordered 2 sliders each, so we both got to try 4 different burgers and neither one of us can decide which one we liked the best. Now that is a great problem! They have a pretty big selection of beers too, both foreign and domestic. By the time we were done, we both were full and we still filled up 2 to-go boxes. I drank 3 beers and we both had ice tea. I know that 2 of the beers and the sliders were on happy hour discount, but our total bill was a little over $25! I'm guessing full regular price would have been around $35. S&B's Burger Joint has really good prices and the food and service is out of this world awesome! Just like everyone else, we checked out the reviews on here first. One person complained about the price, which was of concern to us. I am really glad we paid more attention to all the reviews that said how good S&B's Burger Joint is instead! This was an experience that I am really happy to have had and share! I grew up in OKC, but I live in Tulsa now. Since the Split T and Charcoal Oven closed, we usually go to Johnnie's when in OKC. After years of eating here I’ve finally decided to review: first, I love this place, it has memories for me as a club but also an eatery. Onto that part….I always get a burger, usually the porker or the old fashioned. I always order it well done. That such a priority that I always say it twice to make sure I’m heard about how I want it cooked. I love to order the tots and they’re always good; I don’t always get them though. Sometimes I just want a dang good burger….and about 60-70%% of the time, that’s what I get, a delicious burger….but it’s the inconsistency…..about every 3 or 4 trips I’ll get my order and the burger just isn’t cooked well; it’s medium. I refuse to have it free so I pay for my food. And I’ll always eat at least some bc I’m hungry; but it’s not what I asked for….over and over this has happened and as time as passed over the years I have to ask myself, “why do I choose to keep coming” and honestly there’s a bigger pull…..I can’t explain it but I keep giving them more and more chances to always get it right instead of sometimes. It’s disappointing each time it’s wrong and then it becomes one more reason why I dont want to go because then I’m “the guy” that always has the wrong order. And tbh, I think that’s probably how the staff sees me now. Oh well. I’ll keep giving them another chance; but just incase you go; just be clear…they’re always kind, and have offered several times to pay my meal or make it discounted- honestly, I don’t want that, just want the food prepared the way I ordered and to leave rubbing my tummy bc it’s so delicious. I don’t like leaving with a box to microwave, I wanna eat it all at once. Send it back? No, I don’t believe in being wasteful….again, great food, music, staff. I think the cook just doesn’t realize or perhaps is my secret enemy (please don’t be lol) 🤓😋...

I tried to give this place chance after chance and they disappoint every time. The kitchen (b.o.h) doesn’t understand the servers( F.o.h) The bartender, who took my order, emphasized to the cooks several times that everything was to be vegan, and he still got it wrong. (This always happens at this location) this location is the closest to me, but this location is horrible because of the kitchens will/want to understand.

I was missing a top button and when I walked back in, I seen the top bun sitting on top of the cabinet and I requested a new one instead of the old one and the cook got upset and walked away, so the bartender tried to do the best he could to prepare me a fresh new top bun that they did not originally put on my burger the first time. He (the bartender )also took off the non vegan cheese that he noticed was on my plant-based burger that the cook put on there and replaced it with vegan cheese I originally requested. The bartender also explained to the cook that I wanted a side of vegan cheese sauce and chili, which I also did not get, I got some other type of aïoli sauce or whatever instead. Which I noticed when I got home.

The bartender was very nice and hospitable, and so was the host.

It sucks that there is a language barrier between the front of the house and the kitchen which causes a bad customer experience. The language barrier wouldn’t be so bad if the kitchen wasn’t so arrogant or even cared about trying to put together...
