I love Batdorf, and have been going there for decades. I recall when the Capital Way Batdorf was on the other side of the street, where the deli is now.

This coffee shop has always been a place that is calming, comfortable, and that had a warm feeling; that is why, for me, it was so disappointing to see them recently move into the corner space (where Starbucks used to be). This space is not only much smaller, but it just has this cold feeling that is completely uninviting to sit and enjoy a cup of coffee with a friend.

Of course, there is still the Batdorf near Saint Martins University, as well as the one close to farmers market which are much more conducive to sitting with a friend. But I, likely like so many others, are so going to miss the space that they moved from.
