How can this be the same Metro Pizza that won the "Best of Las Vegas awards?" We met our friends for dinner here on a Tuesday night, a couple of hours before closing. Right from the start, a server (not a hostess) directed us and our wheelchair-bound friend to a table that she cannot get to because of other tables and chairs that were in the way. We asked for a different table and it appeared that this waitress didn't want to oblige. There were at least 30 other empty tables in the restaurant. The fact was, the wheelchair wasn't going to fit where she wanted to put us, so we had to get a different table. We got a new table and then we were introduced to a new server. The server took our drink order of two beers and two waters. We ordered the Hefeweizen beer. He came back and told us that they just ran out. We got the Lite Lager instead. The server brought us a small loaf of freshly baked bread too. We ordered 2 large pizzas (each one was $24.99) and we waited, and waited, and waited. Keep in mind that this was a Tuesday night. By the looks of it, this place has about 30-40 tables and only 6 were in use that night. So what can take so long to get our pizzas? We didn't complain as we were having a nice time talking with our friends. While we waited for our pizzas, my friend asked for another loaf of bread from the first server. We've been waiting for 45 minutes and getting hungry! The server just looked directly at my friend and then walked away. We can see this server doing something at the cashier for several minutes but did not bring the bread. Then a third server came by and introduced himself. My friend asked him for more bread and he told another person to get bread for us. After a few minutes, this other person literally dropped the bread on our table and walked away without saying a word. I'm not sure if we some how offended the employees here, but we're just ordinary folks going out to have dinner. We did not make any crazy demands. We're not loud. We're not rowdy. We're a 40-something year old couple having dinner with our 70-something year old friends. We barely spoke to any of the employees except to order drinks and food like any ordinary people would do at a restaurant. We always said "thank you" when they brought us something and "excuse me" when we asked for the bread. You be might asking, why so many servers? We have no idea. They just kept switching it up on us. We didn't ask for a new server. We didn't ask for anything out of the ordinary. The only thing we asked for was a table that was more accessible to our wheelchair friend. I didn't think that it was such a grand inconvenience for them to seat us in one of the other 30 empty tables. Well, finally our pizzas came. The pizzas were limp, soggy, and unappetizing. I keep asking myself, "How can this be the Best of Las Vegas?" If this is the best then what's the worst? The only thing I can say was good at this particular restaurant is the bread. The bread is hot, fresh, and delicious. Beer? They ran out. Pizza? Not so good. Servers? Rude and unaccommodating. Maybe we came to this restaurant on a bad day? Maybe there's a beer shortage in town? I don't know. But due to the bad experience that we had here, it is very unlikely that we will ever...
Read moreI usually LOVE Metro and it's one of my favorite pizza places in town, but I was SO disappointed when I went there a couple weekends ago. First off, we walked in and we immediately smelled a sewer smell and we couldn't get over how hot it was inside the dining area. By the way, it was one of the hottest days where it was like 118° outside! The air in the dining room was stagnant, stuffy and HOT! They definitely did not have the AC on at all or maybe they just had the fan on. Either way there was no circulation and when we got seated at the table I literally had to use the stand up menu to fan myself with because I was getting nauseous from the sewer smell and the heat. The service was fine and had no issues. The wait staff was very friendly and attended to us, so I didn't have a problem with them at all. Though, when I ordered my small pizza with a side salad - Something super simple and classic, I hate to say that I was also SO DISAPPOINTED. The pizza was almost too thin in the center and it almost tasted like raw dough. The pizza was NOT crispy, but flappy and melting...and that's literally the only way I could describe it. I usually could probably finish a pizza this size off, but I just couldn't continue to eat it. I was thinking that the ownership must've changed because it was never like this! I am so saddened because I really love Metro's dough and pizzas but this was just way below sub par now. I don't know what happened! I would have to say I wouldn't go back any longer to maybe that location but my experience here is making me think all the locations may unfortunately be the same. TO THE OWNERS John and Sam, I plead to you to please have pizzaiolos who care about the pizzas they're churning out. I feel like whomever is in the kitchen is doing your love of pizza, your business, and your brand a disservice and causing you to lose loyal customers at the location on Tropicana near Maryland. I love pizza and nobody should say it's easy to make a pizza...or think, sauce, cheese, and dough... you're 75% there. If you say that, you're a jerk and no nothing...
Read moreFirst and last inside visit was Friday, 8/29/14, 7:10 pm-ish, I give one star because we never got passed our drinks(yet, they were kindly refilled once without request). When we arrived there was already a large party(parents with unmannered children) in the area we were seated in, which is usually a good indication that the waiter is being overworked already, and "inadequate service ahead" signal. Didn't think too much of it, because it was our first visit inside and the large group seemed to have ended their dinner. However, maybe it was one of them nights where the staff was short and lacking without notice. Got our food order in that took longer than 30 minutes to even get a ETA on. By 8pm, at least 30 minutes of waiting, we made the decision to leave, as the next table had an overwhelming smell of their appetizer that seemed to just push the escape button! I know we didn't help the situation maybe, as we first arrived we weren't entirely ready to order because we were waiting for one last person to arrive. Yet, the table next to us(who arrived after us, but ordered before because of our slight delay) just seemed to get more attention and focus than we did. I not saying the waiter lies, but I hate to think that maybe they put in our order a few minutes later than they originally should have, due to the high volume of patrons in that section, or maybe the staff was just slow and overwhelmed, either way, think we will just stick to the carry out service instead. Great pizza, but not great table...
