First time here and won't try again. Service was terrible, i did a curbside pickup at 830pm on 5/10/24.. as soon as I called the number in front of the parking space I was told by a woman that I had pressed 2 and should have pressed 4 with an attitude.. I got transfered and after a brief hold another woman picked up and said she would "bring my order right out".. was very patient even waited about 15 minutes and thought that something went wrong and went inside to see what the hold up was and my food had just been sitting there the whole time.. no apologies were offered of course i think i can make the assumption why.. so when I ordered online at the end when you go to put your payment in, this restaurant tries to force a 20% tip on your TO GO order which I thought is ridiculous.. as there really is not a comparable service being provided as waiting hand and foot like a waiter or waitress does for dine in.. I hardly ever tip on togo orders unless the restaurant is very courteous and prompt i may tip a $1 or $2 at most and i do it at my discretion after i see how the service is when getting the order i dont do "tip ahead".. If I could have selected no tip I would have but it wasn't an option so I picked 5% which is still a couple bucks.. So I guess their snotty entitled employees who handle curbside thought it would be a good way to "get back at me"? by lying and saying it would be brought right out when they were never going to bring it.. Shows how immature, entitled these employees are sorry you hate your job if you don't think it pays enough go find a different job don't take it out on the customers who's money pays your salary.. I wouldn't minded have just coming in the first place and paying then but I was under the weather and didn't want to get others sick so I did curbside.. shame I still had to go inside because lazy workers can't walk 10 steps out to my car..
Now even I can overlook bad service as long as the food is top notch but let me tell you this was an even bigger let down then the service. The only reason I came to this restaurant was because they advertised a $14.99 full rack ribs with two sides special.. We ordered two of the "specials" one with beans and loaded mashed potatoes and the other with street corn and mac and cheese, also got a kids 1/4 bbq chicken with fries.. I am alot of experience with rubs. I have probably tried ribs in 40-50 places in south florida and these had to he some of the worst i have had.. first of all they were cold (and I only drove about 9-10 minutes to get home).. they just didn't even seem fresh like they had been sitting ther all day and they were the driest ribs I ever have had (no I didn't order any dry rub ribs) the picture online shows as if they are drenched in bbq this wasn't the case and they only gave on tiny bbq sauce on the side per each meal which is a joke. My kids chicken pretty much the same thing and she likes chicken alot and she barely touched it.. the Mac and cheese was cheesy but didn't have any flavor not sure how.. the "street" corn they have is laughable I have had better at a carnival.. loaded mash potatoes were also bland and cold, seemed like instant.. Garlic bread they gave was cold and soggy.. only things that were decent surprisingly was the beans and fries but not worth coming back for.. You may have gotten me for about $45-$50 but it won't happen again.. To all the reviews that say their ribs are "the best" or "delicious" either have terrible taste buds and haven't had good ribs or they work for the business.. this place should be about a 2.5...
Read moreI went into Smokey Bones in West Boca and pulled out a stack of gift cards because in the stack I had one for Smokey Bones. I used it and asked if I could get some chipotle barbecue sauces. The waitress said there should be some in the bag. I put “stack of gift cards” down on counter, checked and no bbq sauces at all. She then gets them and hand them to me to put in the bag so I put them in and walk out forgetting my stack of gift cards on the checkout counter. Including: visa $50, Walmart $40 , Bjs restaurant $15, Outback $25, target $50 and a few others.
I had all the remaining balances written in permanent marker on the back of each one.
I call the next day and an employee tells me oh yea we found those last night let me see where the manager put them. The employee gets back on the phone and tells me oh yea we threw those out.
So your telling me, “you threw away a stack of gift cards over night when one is a visa gift card for $50 and don’t wait to see if someone calls for them or call any card to see if they have value left on them.
I asked for the manager I believe his name was Emanuel. He said “yea we assumed you left them because they are trash. But I’ll search around and call you back after dinner rush” didn’t ask me my number just said oh yea the one you’re calling from I got it. Of course I never heard from him.
This is wrong. They probably gave out my gift cards the night before. Doesn’t matter what the item is if something is left behind customers should get some time to try and get items back.
I will be reaching out everywhere to hopefully get some sort of justice
UPDATE: Cheryl, the manager of the West Boca location was nice enough to reach out to me and resolve my issue regarding the gift cards that I left in the store. She reimbursed me for the amount that was on all three cards I lost. I’m more that grateful for her assistance and generosity. I really thought I was just screwed because it was my fault I left them at the store and anyone could have taken them. Thank you again Cheryl and look forward to seeing you during...
Read moreSmokey Bones is an American barbecue chain founded by Darden restaurants in Orlando Florida. They went on to open over 120 restaurants but by 2007 Smokey Bones was struggling and started closing half of them down. That same year they were sold to Barbeque Integrated.
It has been awhile since I have been to Smokey Bones but a summer BOGO promotion brought my girlfriend and I in for dinner. Every day of the week they offer a different BOGO, Monday wings, Tuesday sirloin, Wednesday 1/2 rack of ribs, and Thursday brisket, On the weekends if you purchase a BBQ pack you get 2 free bag of donuts. They also have a late night Bones After Dark menu with $4, $5, and $6 light bites. They also have an everyday during the week special that gives you a full rack of ribs, 2 sides, and a beer, all for $20. I'm loving the deals!
We came in on a Wednesday for the BOGO rib special. I started with a refreshing $5 Dirty Shirley that was potent for a drink special. We decided to share an appetizer of the chorizo queso that we both enjoyed. Our rib special allowed us to get 2 half rack of ribs and four sides for only $19.99. It was a bargain and I thoroughly enjoyed the fall of the bone glazed meaty ribs. I called it meat candy. The loaded baked potato and coleslaw were great too but sad to see they took the apples off the menu.
You used to have dig up the $10 coupon if you wanted a discount. I prefer these excellent specials so much more. If you sign up for the loyalty program you even get $10 off your first meal. Service was excellent and the restaurant was clean and comfortable. I hope they carry promotions in to the fall. Smokey Bones has...
