Great location for lunch in the Pasadena area! It's super convenient for me and my co workers and we usually come here when we are hankering for a sit down meal of Thai food. Plus, if you come during lunch during their happy hour, you get a free egg roll and drink with your entrée purchase! Their Thai tea and green Thai tea are both very sweet, so you might want to ask for less sweetener, but I like it, so no changes for me there!
I have been coming here a few years, hands down my favorite curry of theirs is the ruby curry, their portion decent that I sometimes can't finish it. I like more sweet curries, and this one hits all the right spots! There's plenty of vegetables and bell peppers with the cheaper options of chicken, veggie, tofu and then also beef and shrimp for an uncharge.
Service is friendly and pretty quick, as there usually not too much of a wait for everyone in our party to get their meals! For about 20$usd (including tax and tip and time of this review) I think is a reasonable price for a sit down meal in Pasadena!
Will continue to come here as long as I still find myself in the area wanting Thai food during lunch. There is a large parking structure on Green st (one way steet) and Fair Oaks, connected to the same block building as Moom Thai, so pretty easy parking, as you go downstairs of the Green St exit and it's just...
Read moreHello there I usually go to the My Vegan to have this kind of ties there and it's very good because I've eaten almost everything on the My Vegan menu. But I wanted to try something different in the new place and I ordered the drunken noodles which is actually nothing more than Pad Se Ew.
I'm including a photo of how oily this dish is..that reflection you see on the bottom of the dishe is pure oil. Yuk - It's a very greasy noodle dish and it should not be greasy and even though it had bell peppers in it and some other minor vegetables, the tofu wasn't as good as My Vegan and the entire dish is not anywhere near as good as My Vegan. In fact, I'm afraid to try their pad Thai because I'm afraid it's not gonna be good as My Vegan's pad Thai but I will just to be able to compare them. I was told to leave instructions not to use fish or oyster sauce as I wanted it vegan...well I have to swim through this oil in order to eat this food so I'll definitely never ordering it again. This was my first attempt at going to a new Thai place in a long time and it was a bomb - -meaning a bad bomb, not a good one. it simply wasn't...
Read moreUnder a new management, the old town Fair Oaks Thai placea has a new face lift and more selective items. The service was great and with friendly staffs who recommended what we've ordered.
What set them apart from the other hundreds of Thai restaurants is their pork BBQ with sticky rice. The sticky rice is unlike the sweet mango sticky rice and surprisingly addictive to eat. The pork with the sauce is savory and sweet, which went well with the sticky rice.
The Shrimp Tom Yum soup was not as sour or spicy than other place and honestly, just the way I like it. They were generous with the shrimp.
We also ordered the drunken noodles which we couldn't stop taking one bite after another. It went really well with the dry chili powder that we requested separately.
The atmosphere gives an intimate modern vibe, so don't be mistaken for them being closed.
Overall, we can see ourselves coming back for more. The food are reasonably priced for old town Pasadena and the location is just convenient for us...
