This place absolutely amazed me. I honestly didn't have high hopes when we walked over there. When we walked in we were greeted by Mia, an absolute sweetheart. She answered every questioned I had for her without skipping a beat. My husband and I started off with the mozzarella sticks and jalapeño poppers (for the record, they are made with cream cheese and not cheddar). The marinara sauce was warm (which I prefer) and had a wonderful flavor. The stretch on the cheese was crazy! (Pic below). My husband ordered the "Big Foot" chicken fried steak with mashed potatoes and I had the Chicken Bacon Ciabatta with streak fries. He said hands down it was the best chicken fried steak he's had in years! The mashed potatoes were definitely hand made (chunky) and the perfect amount of garlic. He chose to have the white gravy over both and he said the flavor was excellent. As far as my order, they used a whole chicken breast (flattened), two giant strips of Applewood smoked bacon (cooked perfectly), and Swiss cheese (it also comes with Tomato and onion but I don't like them so I ordered it without). The sandwich was mouthwateringly delicious! All the flavors came together like a melody. The steak fries were perfect! They were seasoned well and they were cooked perfectly. Soft in the middle, just enough of a shell but not a lot of crunch. Even the smaller fries weren't crunchy. Then we ended the night with a piece of strawberry cheesecake for him and a piece of dark chocolate cake for me. He said the cheesecake was very flavorful and the texture was great. The dark chocolate cake was like angels singing. The cake was moist, chocolate mousse center was fluffy and the dark chocolate icing was melt in your mouth instantly. It reminds me a lot of Dove Dark Chocolate. It's very creamy and feels like you're giving your tongue a nice warm hug when you bite into it. The whole time we were there Mia was very tentative, she never let our drinks go dry. We ended up not only tipping her but we tipped the chef as well and he came out and shook our hands. It was nice to be able to thank him in person. We 100% recommend this place and will come back if we are ever in the area again (hubby...
Read moreI stopped off for dinner while passing through town. I had to wait almost an hour before I had to call the waitress's attention to me. I ordered steak medium rare and eggs over easy. The steak was barely cooked (grey in color) and frozen on the inside. The eggs were well cooked well done with the yokes broken. In fact, the eggs were so well done that the yoke couldn't run. When I waited tables when I was a teen, I was taught the waiters and waitresses were supposed to make sure the order was cooked to order. I was supposed to be the quality control for the restaurant. I asked for iced tea, not sweetened. The waitress informed me that they were out. I was never offered or brought even a glass of plain water. I pointed out the fact that my meal was not as I ordered. The waitress informed me that "this is they way the meal is supposed to be cooked. Supposed to be cooked???!!" How so??? Overly cooked? Not cooked well enough??? I want to know which! The steak was not even cooked rare, and the eggs were cooked too much! Obviously this isn't a health issue, especially after blowing her nose in her apron, and not washing her hands afterwards! After I pointed out the meal wasn't cooked as I ordered, the waitress disappeared, and hadn't showed up until I was walking out the door.
When I left, I overheard the waitresses talking in Spanish, joking about me. Little did they know I understand Spanish. Calling a person "pendejo" is not a compliment!
I do NOT recommend eating at this restaurant! The staff is not only not professional, but they are downright RUDE and INSULTING! They seem to have a competition to see who can get away with insulting not serving their customers!
I'm going to spread the word as a travel up and down the west coast to avoid this restaurant! It's beyond not worth your...
Read moreMy husband, daughter and I stopped here for a much needed road trip break and meal. From the outside it looked like any other random truck stop and the inside had the same vibe. After being on the road for over eight hours straight, I'd hoped for the best. My husband ordered biscuits and gravy, and I decided on the pancakes after going back and forth between the huevos rancheros. I ended up glad I didn't order that instead because I'm 99.9% sure I would've been even more disappointed. While portion sizes were excellent and you could say they matched their prices in that regard, taste was bland and mediocre. As my husband put it it tasted like prison food. Now I will say we were all pretty tired and cranky at that point, but unfortunately I'd have to agree with him there. How it's even possible to mess up pancakes is beyond me, though I can sum it up with just one word: rubber. To top it off I couldn't order two sausage links because all they had were dry sausage patties, and I could only have one since "they're really big" (but not really). And apparently they were out of fresh fruit that morning too so I had to literally go out to our car to get fruit I brought from home so my daughter could have something healthy as she refused to eat either of our meals. Overall it was a clean establishment and I suppose customer service was decent, at the very least it was prompt. I can say with confidence that this is NOT a place for real foodies. If you're just looking to consume calories and your tastebuds are dead (as I assume is the case with the countless truckers passing through here), this place is perfect for you! We did, however, get a great laugh as we were leaving because we noticed a sign that indicated there was a strip bar out back. A real classy...
