Champs Nashville Hot Chicken — Restaurant in Pensacola

So good! My kids went one day and sent me pictures and talked about how good but spicy the chicken was. A coworker told me the mild was spicy for them and the mac & cheese was great. So the kids and I decided to go today. I played it safe and got the mild, potato salad, and the mac. It was expensive but everything downtown is typically expensive. The tenders were so big, juicy, and flavorful. The ranch and champs sauce were amazing. The Mac tasted like beer cheese and was so good. The potato salad, I got one spoonful of it and my husband ate the rest.. but my spoonful was great! Haha The mild was perfectly spicy. I will definitely be back!

Update: Past two times I’ve gone hasn’t been as great as the first time I went. Lady who has been running it isn’t very friendly and cared more bout watching tv than communicating. Felt like I was bothering her because I didn’t come get my food when it was ready. Well I never got the text so I didn’t know. Food has been alright, mild chicken doesn’t seem to have any heat whatsoever now. Seasoning is thick right in the middle. Sauce cups are 1/2 full now. If I pay for an extra sauce that cup...

I've visited dozens of fried chicken joints around the country (Gus's in Memphis, Roscoe's in LA, Maxine's in Indy to name a few), & Champ's is one of my favorite flavors around. The Wings... full, whole wings (incl the tips), seasoned with a fantastic dry rub. They come out around 300°F so let them rest a min before you bite into em, lol. I had to try this place twice before I left a review bc I wanted to confirm my assertions. Rusty at the counter took care of us both trips. Dude is knowledgeable about the menu & accurate on the flavor profiles. Very warm & accommodating. I love this joint! Sorry, no pics. I got a 2 piece chicken tender combo meal with a side for Mac and cheese. The chicken itself was really good! I got the mild flavoring and that’s what it was. It was my first time here so I didn’t want anything too spicy, but the mild was still very flavorful! The fries were fries. Nothing special and not seasoned with anything. The Mac and cheese was also just alright. Nothing special there either. It also came with a soda. What I disliked the most was the price. Almost $20 for small portions. Not pleased with that at all. I’d recommend just getting the chicken from here and getting sides from the other...
