Edit: This place changes hands/names so quickly that my below 2022 review seemingly isn't relevant, but I'm leaving it up as a reminder. Judging by the current menu, they may have received the message.
This review is for breakfast sandwiches, prices, and business practices. First, the sandwiches, all of which are 7.49 each. I got the "hog wild". My first impression when it wss in hand was that it was light for such a pricey place. It kinda was, but I was promised only "an egg", and no further claim as to quantities, so I guess it delivered. I was immediately turned off by the fact that the egg was cooked over easy, and squirted runny yolk out when I took my first bite. Other than that, it was ok. Won't order again. Waaaay over priced, and I like my sandwich eggs cooked completely. I am deeply disappointed that the sandwiches they used to make are no longer available. It seems that the things they became known for in the neighborhood have all been changed, so I really don't know who their target market is now, or who they think lives here? Prices are simply not in line with the neighborhood or their offerings. This place belongs in KOP mall or down the shore, not Mayfair. They have 2 sizes of coffee: 12oz and 16oz, which they dub "regular" and "huge", respectively priced at 1.89(.16/oz) and 2.89(.18/oz). Whoever set these prices has clearly failed basic math and/or the generally accepted notion in America that buying more at once comes as a better value. The coffee was average. They add frothed cream if you want cream. I'd have preferred regular cream. Donuts are 2/ea for "classic", and 3/ea for "specialty". I don't have a good measuring stick for where that comes in, as donuts aren't entirely my thing, and I expect they are better quality than dunkin. I was hoping to find a breakfast spot that was a step up from what else is local. Unfortunately, at 7.49 for a sandwich, 2.89 for an undersized coffee, tax, and the pay screen also requesting a tip, I walked out having paid 12.21 for a sandwich and coffee. I could get 2 equivalent breakfasts most places for that or less. To top off the trip, the parking lot was blocked in by their delivery truck. I finally got tired of waiting, and escaped by driving through the handicap spot and over the curb. The driver could have pulled on the side of the building out of the way and been only a couple steps further from the door, but it would seem neither he nor the employees had the foresight to accomplish that and leave the lot accessible. All in all, this experience was a fail, and I...
Read moreJust ordered two sandwiches, fries, and tenders from here. Here's my take:
The pros - The chicken itself is juicy, very tender, and flavorful. They give you a VERY generous portion. I'd guess it's been marinated/brined thoroughly. The bun was buttery, very nice texture, and also great flavor. The fries were crisp, not soggy whatsoever, which is unusual for most delivery fries.
The cons - The breading on all of the chicken is very heavy. This would probably be ok if not for the second problem. Either their frier oil is not hot enough, they are leaving them cook too long, or both. The coating is literally saturated with oil and turns to greasy powder when you chew it from being overdone. The pickles are super sugary sweet, which distracts immensely from the sandwich. The fries were much less greasy but couldn't used a bit of salt.
Other - At least two of their chicken sandwiche options come with french fries which is not stated on any of the three platforms (Grubhub, doordash, and an internet site) which may lead to unnecessary additional purchases of french fries. The sandwiches also come with coleslaw on them, not on the side, which is disliked by many.... So make sure you leave a special note on every sandwich to leave it off if it's not your thing. The grammar mistakes on all three sites, such as lack of commas under their item descriptions, make determining what you are buying a wee bit difficult. They really need to go back and proofread their...
