Here's the quick run-down, if you don't really care about my particulars: Food- my meal was ok, but needed salt, etc. My friends' food looked much better, but was not GF. Service- the worst Prices- charges vary from the menu, server didn't understand own menu options, additional charge for credit cards added to everyone, but they didn't remove it for anyone after we paid cash. Atmosphere- It felt like a more expensive Cracker Barrel. The patio, however, looked really nice.
I went here with 4 other girls, after one of them recommended it. If you are GF, stay away. I knew it wouldn't be ideal with a name like "Bread Winners," but this was one of the least gf-friendly menus I've seen. For those who can eat gluten: they bring complementary bread to the table, and it appeared to be a cranberry sweet bread that looked pretty good. That's pretty special, actually.
My experience is largely negative because of our server, and we all have bad days. I get it. I've been there, myself. But, after he dropped the food, he didn't come back. Two of us had coffee, and we got one fill up after like 20 minutes when I went and found someone, and no more after that. That person went and got our server to bring it, but my friend likes coffee really hot, and requested a new cup instead of adding half a warm cup to her cold coffee. (It was literally cold.) He almost threw the new full cup at her. Some spilled on the table. After that, his presence put my friends on edge, so maybe it was a good thing that he was never around. He brought not offered any further refills. No more water, no more ice tea, no more coffee.
When it came time to pay, two of us were charged more than we expected, and everyone had a charge that wasn't explained. Someone asked, and he said it was a credit card fee. So, we all paid in cash, but they didn't remove the charges, anyway. We just let it go. As for my bill, he charged $4 extra for an a la cart item that I had asked him if I could substitute for an element with gluten upon ordering, to which he said yes. But, when I asked, he just said "That's how the kitchen needed it. I can't do anything about that.". I explained that I would have preferred that he come can to tell me that I couldn't substitute. I would have understood and changed my order. So, all in all, I was charged $4 extra for my substitution, a .50 credit card fee for paying in cash, and I paid $3.50 plus tax and tip for 1.5 small mugs of coffee. That's like $8 of waste for food I didn't really like, and a server who made my friends uncomfortable.
Needless to say, I will never be going back. Next time it's recommended by any party I'm in, I'll speak up against it, while I'm usually the...
Read moreIf I could give Zero stars I would! The food is usually good and the customer service stellar, however Ms Paty Lopez ruined the experience for me and I will never return. I ordered my meal and it came promptly. I ordered the chicken sausage thinking it was a patty and not the link. The issue is that I don't eat pork and links are often made with pork casing. I explained the situation to the server and that I could not eat it. He went to ask the kitchen who told him it was all chicken. Years of experience navigating restaurants and trying to avoid pork, tells me this is probably cooked on the same grill as bacon, and that it's most likely pork. I sent it back. Let's cut down on confusion and I just won't have meat. No big deal right? Ms Lopez comes over with encouraging words stating that she read the ingredients and there was no pork. I again explained that I didn't want it. She continue to explain that she was confident that there was no pork in this product. I explained again that I would just skip the meat. Back and forth....I just decided to skip breakfast altogether and just pay for the coffee. Her going back and forth was annoying but then she brought the check. I HAD ONLY HAD 1 CUP OF COFFEE. THIS LADY CHARGED 5 BUCKS AND JUSTIFIED IT BY SAYING THAT IT WAS THE PRICE LISTED ON THE MENU. That's fine but where is the customer service? First you try to bully me into eating something I didn't want and then charge me for a pot of coffee when I only had 1 cup....literally. She could have offered a cup to go at least! Ms Lopez, as I explained to you, when a customer says they don't want something, don't continue to push. Just offer something comparable or take it off the ticket. You handled the situation incorrectly by not offering to accommodate my food preferences and now you have lost a customer. My advice is that if you have specific food preferences don't visit the Plano location. Ms Lopez couldn't care any less. You will be charged full price no matter what the situation is. Thank you to the young man Evan who was just doing his job, and I apologize to the other servers in earshot. Ms Lopez hopefully you have learned something positive from this incident. Taking into consideration that we all have our good and bad days I hope yours gets better. Customer service is what people are paying for not a run down on your store policies. Remember if you run away all of the people your jobs are in jeopardy. This could have easily...
Read moreThis review is for the NorthPark Mall location.........my husband and I went there for dinner about 6 months ago. We were seated outside on the patio and waited there for about 15 minutes before the hostess walked by and asked if we had been served, offered a drink, etc. We told her "no" and she told us she would get a server for us. In the meantime, other guests were being seated near us and promptly being waited on. Another few minutes passed and still no server, nothing. Obviously, we walked out. On the way out my husband politely explained the situation to the manager. The manager asked how she could fix the problem. My husband said " you can't" and we left. I guess the manager didn't have the guts to offer us a comp or something to say they were sorry and we didn't need to beg for free food.
My husband emailed the company and let them know of our experience. We received two gift certificates for free entrees to make up for our experience.
Fast forward to July 29, 2014.........we decided to give this location another try. We were seated for dinner around 6:45 p.m. Remember, this is the NorthPark Mall location. The place was basically empty. We were seated and server but nothing spectacular. We both ordered the buffalo chicken salad- the salad was very good, but that place has too good of a menu and a cool interior not to be busy or to have poor service.
The restroom was a mess and the bar was empty, no one sitting there, yet there was a line of empty/dirty drink glasses on the bar. There was literally about 10 people in the whole place.
The food is good but overpriced, The menu is very unique but the idiots working there will put the mall location out of business. The Uptown location is always busy because it's Uptown. I'm not sure how the NorthPark location stays open.
If it wasn't for free food, we'd never go back. All I had to pay for was two drinks and a cup of soup and that was still $25.
Royal dump, way overrated. Don't waste your time. I'd rather eat at Chik Fil A in...
