My dad and I visited this Mom and Pop Asian restaurant based on a good recommendation elsewhere. I love trying new places and I love Asian food, so I was excited to check it out. In short, we very much enjoyed our experience. The food was excellent and the personalized service was a refreshing experienc, especially in today's “less than caring” dining market. It has a hole-in-the-wall feel, and the place is very clean, which I appreciate. I recommend you check this place out. More details below....
We were greeted kindly and warmly by the owner, Alex, when we arrived and he graciously explained how the menu worked and made several recommendations. If I wasn't hungry before he described a few of the meals and how they specially make them, boy was I afterwards!
We settled on splitting a Beef Fried Rice Entree as an appetizer and we also ordered Mongolian Beef over Fried Rice and Shrimp Pad Thai. The portion sizes were large and the prices were very reasonable. Honestly, we ended up ordering too much food (and we are both very big guys), which was a nice problem to have. All of the food was tasty and flavorful. My favorite was the Beef Fried Rice. They don’t put small chunks of beef in their fried rice, the beef slices are big and plentiful.
Alex offered us Horchata and an order of egg rolls on the house. I liked both items. The egg rolls are unique and not exactly what I was expecting, but I liked them a lot. I couldn’t quite put my finger on what was so different about them, but I liked them and would order them again.
I forgot to take pictures, otherwise I would have posted them.
Come give Alex and the LaPana crew a visit. I think you will enjoy the overall experience with great food and great service at a...
Read moreMy husband and I wanted to try a new place for lunch so we tried LaPana! It was a bit of a drive but we’ll worth it! As soon as we walked in we could see it was well kept and very clean. We were greeted with smiling faces. Alex behind the counter asked if this was our first time visiting and explained the menu. He was very patient, offered recommendations, and was extremely nice. The atmosphere felt great! The food was amazing. We ordered kungpao steak, fried rice, pad Thai, dumplings, and vegetable rolls. We wanted to try a little of everything! Ohhh and since I’m not a Coke drinker, but Alex highly recommend the Mexican Coke, I got to try one for the first time on them. It was delicious!!! Thank you Alex! We ordered way too much food and brought home leftovers. (generous portions) Our waitress was also very sweet and attentive. She made sure we were taken care of. LaPana Asian Cuisine highly recommended! Worth taking a...
Read moreIt was a mountain of rice for nearly $50 for two people. The drinks are also $3 each, and you don't get any refills. It really bothered me that you get so little meat in your dish. The appetizer dumplings were meager. It's not worth wasting your money on. It tasted good sauce-wise, but it is extremely lacking in everything else. It was a cute atmosphere with the decor and wall paintings. Seatimg is very uncomfortable. The service was extremely pushy. The daughter of the owner literally kept pushing chicken nuggets on us repeatedly (like six times in a row) as we tried reading the menu. I don't want chicken nuggets at your Chinese restaurant at all. Save that for someone who has kids. Smh.
Honestly, you're better off going to Buffet Palace in Greenville. It's the same quality, you get drink refills, and you can eat...
