The Biscuit Bar promises big, buttery comfort with a bold motto: “Everything Is Better On A Biscuit.” I stopped by the Plano location to see if the food lives up to the hype—and if biscuits really can make everything better. Spoiler: some bites delivered, others missed, but the biscuit itself? Absolutely worth the visit.
Restaurant Review: The Biscuit Bar – Plano, TX Motto: Everything Is Better On A Biscuit
This Biscuit Bar is located at 5880 State Hwy 121 #102b, Plano, TX 75024 at The Boardwalk at Granite Park, nestled among a row of other eateries & bars with outdoor seating on a waterside boardwalk. On weekends, the area comes alive with vendors and pop-ups, making it a fun spot to stroll, snack, and people-watch. The restaurant has forward-facing outdoor seating, perfect for enjoying your biscuit with a side of sunshine.
But let’s talk about the motto for a second: “Everything Is Better On A Biscuit.” A bold claim. Is everything really better on a biscuit? Maybe not everything—but here, the biscuit is definitely pulling most of the weight. At times, it felt like the toppings were trying too hard to live up to the biscuit, and not the other way around. So no, not everything is better on a biscuit... but a lot of things sure are.
Tried:
The Philly: Seasoned ribeye, grilled peppers and onions, Monterey Jack, Sriracha
Buffalo Blue Chicken: Southern-fried chicken, buffalo sauce, bleu cheese coleslaw
Hot Hot Chicken: Southern-fried Nashville-style hot chicken, dill pickles, house-made ranch
French Toast Biscuit
The Good:
The biscuits are the MVP—buttery, with a nice crisp crust and enough heft to hold up to whatever you pile on.
The fried chicken on the Hot Hot Chicken was hands-down the best part of the meal—juicy, flavorful, and perfectly crisp.
The French Toast Biscuit was the real standout—sweet, rich, and packed with flavor. Easily the most memorable bite of the day.
The Not-So-Good:
The fillings didn’t always live up to the biscuit and felt underwhelming flavor-wise. Overall, the combos seemed like they were trying too hard to be clever but didn’t quite deliver on taste. A few bites left me wishing they’d just let the biscuit shine without all the noise.
The Philly sounded promising, but I was hoping for big, bold flavor—it ended up just... fine. A little confused, a little flat.
Buffalo Blue Chicken—southern-fried chicken with buffalo sauce and bleu cheese coleslaw—sounded like a flavor bomb, but it fell flat. The tang and heat you’d expect just didn’t show up, and the whole thing felt muted.
It wasn’t busy when we went—we were the only ones there. Granted, it was 4:30 PM on Easter Sunday, but the whole area itself was still crowded. The calm might appeal to some, but inside, it lacked the energy and buzz you’d expect from a spot in such a lively location.
Final Take: It’s a fun, niche concept with a biscuit that truly shines. I’d recommend everyone stop by at least once—especially for the breakfast-style options or that French toast biscuit. If you're going, stick to the biscuit basics. That’s where they really shine.

Read moreMixed Experience: Great Service, Long Wait, and Hit-or-Miss Food Quality
My son and I had been eyeing The Biscuit Bar ever since we visited a neighboring restaurant and noticed it had the biggest crowd. A couple of weeks later, we decided to give it a try.
When we arrived, there were only two people ahead of us in line, so we thought it would be a quick experience. Unfortunately, it took almost an hour for our food to arrive - and we were both absolutely starving as we were nearing the end of a 48-hour fast.
One thing I want to highlight is the cashier's excellent service. She was incredibly friendly, patient, and took the time to explain the menu and recommend popular items. She even warned us that it would take “a while,” but we didn't realize “a while” meant nearly an hour. In hindsight, I noticed a lot of pickup orders being fulfilled, so it seems they prioritize online orders. Tip: order online if you want to avoid the wait.
We ordered: 4 eggs over medium 1 Haus sandwich 1 Monte Cristo 1 order of taco-style tater tots
The food quality was a mixed bag.
The Haus chicken sandwich was the clear highlight - the chicken was excellent quality, very tasty, and I'd happily order that again.
The eggs over medium came out completely hard, with no runny yolk at all.
The Monte Cristo was disappointing. Although the ham itself was actually better than what I've had at other breakfast places - very flavorful - the sandwich overall was just a mushy mess, likely from sitting too long waiting for the rest of the food.
The tater tots suffered the same fate. By the time we got them, they were soggy and mushy from the meat and sauces soaking in too long.
My suggestion to the restaurant would be: if possible, bring out items as they're ready, rather than letting them sit and deteriorate while waiting for the full order. My son even suggested next time we place separate orders for each item to avoid this happening again.
Overall, I appreciated the great service and friendliness of the staff, and the Haus sandwich makes me think the kitchen is capable of much better. But the long wait time and inconsistent food quality - left us underwhelmed. We may give it another try someday with some adjustments (like ordering ahead online), but I hope they can improve how they handle...
Read moreI will start by saying that the food is the reason my family continues to eat from this location. The customer service alone will be the reason this place crashes and burns! I placed an online order with them yesterday directly from their website. I normally place orders through UberEats but they were not available yesterday through the Uber Eats platform. In the past I have received orders with missing items or a completely different order altogether. Thankfully Uber Eats always refunds me or credits my account to reorder from them again. This was not the case after ordering directly from The Biscuit Bar site. My order was delivered 20min late and was missing 2 meal items. I contacted the location by phone and I spoke with a manager by the name of “Clinton” and she assured me that she was looking at my ordered items and that it was a mistake on their part. She then told me I had the option to have my money refunded for those 2 items or I could come and pick them up…great. The first issue was that I had no transportation to get there which is why I placed an order for it to be delivered. I agreed that it was fine to have the money refunded, however, she then stated that in order for it to be refunded she would need to let her area manager know so they could approve the refund. Our conversation ended with her hanging up the phone while I was in the middle of confirming her name. I waited about 15min and called back hoping to get a different person on the phone, which I did, but they put Clinton back on the line. I was informed that since The Biscuit Bar pushed the order through for Uber to deliver my food, I would not be getting a refund or my food at that point and that I needed to discuss my concerns with Uber Eats. I don’t have anything on my Uber Eats history showing that anything was ordered with them on yesterday when all of this took place so how is the issue with them and how are they supposed to fix an issue that has nothing to do with them. How is this fair? I am still waiting for a call back from Clinton who said she would call me back in the next 15min with a solution. Again, this took place yesterday morning (3/14/24). I need a resolution of some kind...
