I want to thank the head butcher. It was 4 minutes to 6. I drove past, and seen they had the doors open. I immediately turned in, hoping I could make it in time. After a long day, and nothing at home to feed the family (that didn’t need thawing out), I went in with determination I could find something quick and easy. Agian, it was closing. I quickly searched the case, deciding “ Steakhouse burgers”! While hurrying to Complete the transaction. I realized I have no hamburger buns at home.. We’re can I get hamburger buns at 6, heading in NW! No worries. Phil’s butcher hooked me up, out of their “own stash. “ no charge he said! 🥹Thank you for making my day, Sir! We will always shop at the friendliest Butcher shop in Portland! My Grandson is now telling his Friends in gorilla tag, that Phil’s meat markets the best burgers! McDonald’s sucks! Had to share.🤣

My son walked from PSU the get food here. He ordered and was charged for a DOUBLE Beef Bento and received a single. It was tough and the rice was undercooked! We also ordered the Hawaiian Pasta salad it had NO dressing it was essentially macaroni bone dry! We called immediately upon discovering and the phone number keeps going to voicemail. 2pm and no one can answer the phone?? Here’s the dryed out tough “Double” bento

The only thing better than the food was the excellent service. I ordered a burrito online and I received a call from them explaining they were out of the tortillas and asked if I was okay with tacos. They added more tacos and provided the extra sides that would have been in the burrito. Oh and the Black Beans had chunks of bacon and onions… So delicious!

I'm so glad I stumbled upon Phil's Meat Market & Delicatessen. This place is amazing. It's an old school meat market, it's the real deal. Out front they grill the very same meat they sell inside the market. This is the first time I tried the beef kebabs. They were delicious. I couldn't even finish the portion I was given. And I was starving when I arrived. The seasoning is phenomenal. I am at a loss for words to articulate exactly how excellent the beef kebabs tasted.I definitely heard a chorus of angels sing hallelujah when I tasted it. I'll just say that it is so good that I would be willing to wait patiently for 1 hour in line if I ever had to. The chef who cooked my meal was so polite and respectful and was a pleasure to talk to. This nice young man even went inside the market to bring me a bottle of cold water because we are having an unusual heatwave in PDX and I was going to literally die of thirst if I didn't get a drink of water ASAP. (I have Attention Deficit Disorder so I forget names easily, I apologize that I can't remember his name). When I told Erik, the owner, how excellent it was, he gave me a cheesecake on the house. The cheesecake was spectacular. It's so good that I'm ready to go get another one right now. All I can say is that this is how cheesecake is supposed to taste. Trust me, you won't be disappointed. The bakery chef is very talented to be able to capture such goodness in a cheesecake. Both of my grown children are in the food industry and they have taught me how to recognize and appreciate savory and sweet excellence wherever I go. Fellow Portlandians, support this local business so they can survive all the financial losses from covid's 2020 aftermath of destruction to the restaurant and bar industry that is gasping for air and trying to survive during a worldwide pandemic that is decimating small local businesses.

Well done Erik. The fact that the staff are charming and polite and welcoming is an added bonus to the fact that the food is sooooo good. I'll be back for sure. I can't wait to try more from the menu.

I wish you all the best, thank you a million times.

From your newest loyal future repeat customer, Susan...

I love when I get to write a 5 Star review for a small business! And Phil's more than deserves it. My dad and I were in this business area for the packet pickup at Road Runners. We decided to grab a bite at Phil's, mainly because of the mouth watering aromas coming from their outdoor grill. We hopped in line and a few minutes later placed our order. My dad got the 2-piece combo kabobs (1 chicken, 1 beef) over white rice and I got a single beef kabob. While that cooked we headed inside to pay. The price was decent and it was easy enough to get that done. It was quoted to be about 10 minutes for our food so we wandered around the store. I wish I lived closer to this could be my go-to butcher! All of their meats and seafoods looked AMAZING. It seemed a little pricey but seriously, for the freshness and quality you're getting, it's worth it. They have a small selection but offer a ton of yummy options. They also have a small deli with your usual Mac and cheese, chicken, etc. except this isn't your usual microwaved deli options. These were fresh looking, homemade options. Their burgers looked phenomenal and that Mac and cheese. I wish I got a sample! Oh! And I sampled their lemon cake. I don't usually like lemon but OMG. SO GOOD. I wish I got a picture of their "brookie" bars. They were GIANT. I overheard a group eating some cookies and they all sounded overjoyed with what they were eating. Ok so now to our food. I wish I could give you all a sample of what we had. It was beyond words. The beef was marinated beautifully and cooked to the perfect tenderness. It was so juicy and flavorful, I wish I had some now. My dad loved the chicken too! I could rave about this place forever. Go. Now. Treat...

UNRELIABLE FOR CATERING/FOOD TRUCKS! A gross case of negligence. I had been in communication with Sharon since mid march about having the food truck for our wedding in June. She had emailed me to check in on the 12th of April (meaning it was not booked yet), i replied the next day April 13th, with a list of questions and told them i was ready to book. I didn't hear back - so emailed again on the 19th saying i was ready to book or order. She got back to me right away asking for the venue location and time (again - meaning they weren't booked for the date yet which she confirmed on the phone this morning they weren't), i got back to them right away as well with an answer and asking if she had read my other email. I didn't hear back until this morning when she tells me the truck had been booked for June 3rd. What? Absolutely unprofessional to book out from under us and leave us high and dry this close to our date! Sharon told me over the phone that another employee had booked our date between the 19th - 21st (today), this wouldn't have happened if you would've responded to my initial email on the 13th, or 19th, and just told me HOW TO PAY YOU! That's also interesting because when my fiancé talked with Sharon on the phone in March she told him SHE was the one who booked catering/food truck services. Unbelievable. I was met with an apology and an offer to do catering services which i'm not interested in using this company at all if that's how you treat customers. I'm glad to use someone else and avoid...
