So before I say anything negative, I must say the roast beef here is incredible! It's a rare pit style beef, not like your typical tavern or roast beef with gravy places around the area. I got a cup of soup as well, very good.
It is a little pricey, but most things are now adays. The restaurant was very clean. But I'll tell you what, it was dead quiet. While I was there, there was only another couple dinning in and a few guys popped in to grab lunch orders. No music, just the lady at the counter and the guy in the back making sandwiches yelling back and forth at each other. He was hustling. You can tell the man cares about making his food. Not saying it was like a domestic argument type yelling but more like bickering from working together day to day. I felt like I did when I was a little kid, visiting a friend's house for dinner and their parents were fighting (I'm just gonna sit here with my head down and enjoy my food like nothing else is going on). I was concentrating hard not to slurp my soup. I thought it was kinda funny but also awkward.
Anyway. The food was great, the other food I saw come out looked great, the lady at the counter was nice kinda. Definitely try it out, if you don't like the vibe, get your...
Read moreWOW!! That's the first thought I had when I tasted the Pink Floyd sandwich (secret menu!) today!
I walked in to the restaurant today and it was very clear that I was a first timer, lol. I didn't catch the cook's name, but he was great to talk to. He immediately gave me a generous slice of corned beef and also a slice of the hand carved turkey and both were amazing. When I went to make the order, I wanted to recreate a sandwich that I used to have years ago at an old job. I started to describe what I wanted and he was finishing my description exactly how I was going to say it! He and his daughter (pretty sure) both knew that I was ordering the Pink Floyd. Half roast beef, half turkey, with long hots, pepper Jack cheese and red pepper relish. It was so good!!! Comes with Cole slaw also, which I forgot to have in the pic.
Such a cool restaurant with a true neighborhood feel. I could tell that they knew most of the customers and heard people ordering "the usual". Service was awesome too! Will definitely...
Read moreAbsolutely love Grumpy's. I've tried their breakfast and lunch food, and you can't go wrong. Highly recommend the Cap'n Crunch French Toast and Turkey Roseo. Make sure to check out their Facebook page for daily specials and other insider knowledge.
In addition to their regular menu, they've catered two parties for my family. Everything was seamless and Gene took the time to go through the menu options to fit our budget. Everyone raved about the food, especially the pulled pork sandwiches and mac and cheese.
They also do a ton of community outreach and are just really wonderful people in general who will stop and chat. Amazing small business in...
