A Culinary Experience Worth Crossing Oceans For!
The Ultimate Question: Is it worth it? Should you book a flight to Puerto Rico just to visit this restaurant? YES, a resounding yes! If food can be a language, then this place speaks volumes in mouthwatering eloquence. A trip to Puerto Rico with the sole purpose of dining here would not only be justified but highly recommended.
Should this be the first place you eat at Puerto Rico when you land? YES, absolutely. Begin your Puerto Rican adventure on a high note; this place will set the standard for what the island has to offer. Not visiting here first would be like starting a book in the middle—you'd miss out on an important piece of the narrative.
Should you go here after a 10-hour flight before emptying your suitcases and getting refreshed in your hotel room? YES. Drop those bags at the concierge, maybe grab a rejuvenating shower if you absolutely must, but let this be your priority. This restaurant's cuisine will not just erase the fatigue of your flight; it'll make you question why airplanes haven't found a way to teleport us already just so you can eat here sooner.
The Food: An Ode to Freshness From the moment you walk in, you're greeted with the tantalizing aroma of herbs and grilled perfection. When I asked the cashier what was good, she looked me straight in the eyes and confidently declared, "EVERYTHING." Now, you often hear that in places, but here, it wasn't just a statement—it was a promise.
Taking her advice to heart, I sampled almost every offering. Every dish was a love letter to Puerto Rican cuisine—flavorful, juicy, and scalding hot straight off the grill. I thought one serving would be enough; I was delightfully wrong. The flavors were so enthralling that going for seconds wasn't just an option—it was a necessity.
Final Thoughts To say that this restaurant is a must-visit would be a gross understatement. It is an experience that transcends conventional dining. If you ever find yourself in Puerto Rico, you owe it to yourself to embark on this culinary journey. And if you're not planning to visit Puerto Rico, maybe it's time to reconsider—your taste buds...
Read moreDon't judge a book by it's cover. You should definitely give them a try. When we first drove by the kioskos we were unsure about the place. It certainly doesn't look like a place visitors to the island would usually visit. But we decided to go anyway. It is basically a row of different restaurants and gift shops set up side-by-side. When the businesses are not open, they pull garage doors down, which gives it that questionable vibe. But it is in front of the Luquillo Beach so you have a great view of the beach and sunset if you time your visit right.
We were in the area for 2 weeks, so we went often. Some restaurants are better than others. There was only one that I would not recommend. I can't remember the name, but it has a 2nd floor deck with tables. We ordered red snapper and grouper and could not tell the difference between the two fish. Neither one of them tasted that good.
The best places we found were LaParilla, the 1st restaurant at the end with the outdoor dining, and Revolution Pizza. LaParilla had great, fresh seafood and pina coladas. Revolution Pizza had thin crust pizza with good sauce and toppings.
All the employees and other visitors at the kioskos were very nice. The only mean person we ran in to was from South Carolina....

The Kioskos of Luquillo are a great place to visit and if you do your homework, you can have a great meal and drinks for very reasonable prices. If you just buy something that is sitting in a window under a fluorescent (haha) light, you're getting what you should expect. As in any visit to an unknown food experience, if you do not see the heat being applied to the food that you plan to eat, all bets are off. Here is the bad part: we have been visiting Luquillo for years and this last time it was very crowded and parking was tight. On the way in we got "lucky" and a car was backing out was we approached. Thinking we had fortune, we parked in that spot with cars also parked for a ways in both directions. When we returned, we discovered that we had received a parking ticket for $200. Absurd, as there were no signs and the police, standing nearby had not said a word, but were kind enough to warn a car with local ladies, but not us. Total corrupt tourist scam and a disappointing end to a great stop and meal at...
