We've been coming here for years and have always really enjoyed the food. Things are never as good when it's take-out, but three things happened that turned our order into a negative experience.
First, the fact that sweet potato fries are the default - and the person on the phone taking my order didn't ask if I wanted regular fries - meant that I didn't get the steak cut fries that I wanted. I didn't think to ask, so that's on me, but it seems like it makes sense to just verify what kind of fries the customer wants. The guy taking my order seemed almost...angry on the phone? I know it's a hard time in the restaurant industry finding workers, so many he was just really overworked.
The second thing is that my family and I LOVE the buns that they serve with the meal. When we used to go in person, the four of us would go through 8-12 of the buns in total. In the past, take-out orders have had anywhere from six to 12 of the buns (the time I got a dozen I asked nicely and tipped big). On the phone order I said there were four of us and we loved the buns, so hint hint we wanted as many as they'd give us. We got four, and they were quite a bit smaller than normal. So that was a letdown.
Lastly, the pork in the pulled pork sandwich was really try, and bits were hard - not "tasty BBQ crunchy', but "overcooked hard to chew". And of course because my order was ready earlier than the 25 minutes they quoted, by the time we got our food home the fries were a soggy mess and everything was barely warm.
I called and spoke to a manager about this and was hoping for some kind of "Sorry, we'll do better next time" and instead got a "if we gave our more than four buns for a take out order we'd run out of buns and if you wanted regular French fries you should have said so" answer.
I think I'll give it six months before we try this place again, maybe they'll get some of...
Read moreI usually hate giving places less than 3 stars but I had a pretty bad dinner here that I had to share. Some of my family members love this place so we decided to trust them and drive all the way down from Everett to have dinner here with them. You walk in and there are peanuts all over the ground. Okay maybe people like this but it just makes the place dirty… it’s also sad seeing people being their toddlers to eat here and they have the ability to just throw their peanut shells on the ground (hopefully they don’t bring this habit back home) The menu is huge with so many options. I decided to do the combo of pulled pork and 1/2 rack of ribs (for $40). My mom got a 1/2 rack as well. When we got the ribs they were so over cooked and hard where I was scared that I was going to break a tooth. My mom and I ended up sending it back because of how hard the ribs were. The pulled pork was pretty dry. That night I think I only ate my sides (steak fries and Mac and cheese) and a roll of bread. By the time I got the ribs, I was pretty much full and done eating. I did try the ribs and they were cooked better but they were pretty tasteless like they needed to be marinaded (I think they just put the sauce on top of it). I ended up giving it to someone else in my party to bring home for dinner. The only good thing about my experience here was the service, our waitress was super nice and apologetic about our ribs that she promptly went out of her way to get them cooked again. Definitely won’t be coming back here for dinner as I threw $40 away. I think I would have rather gone to Popeyes or L&L for dinner (with two meals and maybe...
Read moreI was hoping to get a great steak here but it's not going to replace my grill in the back yard.
The service was great. I was met at the door and seated immediately after being asked if I wanted a table or a booth. Rolls and butter were grabbed on the way to the table. Salad was brought very fast and the courses were delivered right on time. My soda was never empty.
The atmosphere was great. It has sort of a Texas theme that you would expect. I'm certain many love the peanuts and the ability to make a mess with them. Music was pound enough to listen to without being too loud.
The food is where I had problems. The rolls had a great sourdough flavor but were cold and a bit firm probably due to temperature. The house salad was very cold which was great and delivered with a cold fork. It was pretty good. The crab cake was small. Four bites and way too much sauce which was fortunately on the side. The sauce had a very strong favor. It was good but you only needed a tiny amount. The crab cake itself was good but not great. The steak was cooked on the inside perfectly but the outside was chared too much. The sides were burnt and tasted like it. I'm not exactly sure what seasoning was used other than garlic but it wasn't to my taste. Some may love it. The baked potato was the best part of the meal. It really was great.
The price was way too high. If this was an amazing meal front to back it would still be on the high side but for the taste of the meal it was well above what I'm comfortable with. For a 12 oz ribeye meal, one crab cake, a soda the price was...
