I picked up an Uber Eats order from this Starbucks the other day and had an unpleasant encounter with one of the baristas there. This was not my first time picking up at this location. However, it was my first time having an unpleasant experience there. When I arrived, there were two young Caucasian baristas, one male (with red hair) and the other, female ( with black hair). I came to the counter and stated that I was there to pick up the order. He stated that they were still working on it, so I said okay and I looked at the menu while I waited. I saw the female barista putting the brownie the customer ordered in the bag, so I asked her if it was warmed up. She stated no, took it out the bag and proceeded to warm it up. Overall, she was pleasant about it. The male barista says in a rather snappy, yet condescending manner that he didn't see that it said to warm it up and asked if it was listed on the app. I told him yes, and he said "let me see" as if I was lying about it. I was immediately offended because why would I need to lie about a customer wanting a brownie warmed up?? However, I showed him on the app where the customer requested to have the brownie warmed. The female barista puts the brownie in the bag and after, the male barista proceeds to put the drinks in the bag. To add insult to his already rude and micro-aggressive behavior, he decides to staple and place multiple stickers on the bag as closure. When he saw that I was watching him, he says "let me add one more," and places another sticker on the bag, which at that point was overkill. I guess that was to insinuate that he felt like I was going to go into the bag. I was completely disgusted and utterly offended. He then proceeds to dumbly tell me to have a nice day after his display of ignorance which was paired with the expectation that I was going to acknowledge his salutation. The absolute audacity of him! I've picked up deliveries from this Starbucks before and neither time was the bag closed in this manner which confirms that his actions were rooted in racism.
Starbucks, this behavior is not new for your employees when they're dealing with African-American customers, as several accounts of discriminatory behavior have been reported on the news. And your call to action was to provide all of your employees diversity training. Clearly this young man either missed that training or your company failed to provide it. Regardless, his behavior shows that the training is not being enforced because he felt way too comfortable treating me this way. Behavior like this will continuously cause your company to lose African American patronage, especially mine.
And at the height of companies adopting diversity, equity, and inclusion frameworks as an integral part of their infrastructure, it is highly disappointing to see that such a major enterprise as Starbucks is still struggling in this area. Do better...
Read morePeople listen Up! My name is Scott and I have just had one of the most embarrassing and disgusting experiences in my life at this Starbucks. I had went into the Starbucks around 6:30pm to order an iced tea. When I got there I needed to use the restroom really bad before ordering my drink, so I proceeded to go back to the back of the store to the restroom. One of the restrooms was locked or occupied but the other one was available so I went in, locked the door and proceeded to use it. As I started using it the worker by the name Robbie who was a guy started knocking on the door, I clearly said loudly that someone is using it here. He then proceeded to unlock the door with his store keys and a group of girls was sitting right by the restroom at a table watching this happen. I didn’t even have time to pull my pants up all the way before he comes in the door as I’m yelling at him …Hey I’m using it here and you heard me say that when you knocked on the door what are you doing? He started laughing and said “oh I’m sorry I thought I locked both doors with the key when I cleaned it earlier. Be careful at this location people. I have reached out to corporate and I’m making a police report for a violation of my privacy. I also took names of the witnesses...
Read moreEvery time I do my mobile order here for my Venti flat white they place it in a grande cup. Every Single TIME. I have reported this to the company. I spent several months ordering a Venti and receiving only a grande, suspicious each time but they are mobile orders and you run in and out so you can get to work. This is beyond unacceptable. Starbucks is fantastic in so many ways but this store is robbing you, stealing your money with out a care in the world. Throw shade at me all you want for continuing to go. The biggest issue is that I am one person and this situation has continued for months. How much money is this location taking from...
