I would give the food two negative stars if possible.
This was our second visit, having previously enjoyed fresh seafood here last year. We decided to celebrate my nephew’s graduation here, as there are limited options for a seafood tower in Sacramento during lunch time.
Unfortunately, our experience this time was very unpleasant. We ordered two dozen oysters, one or two dozen shrimp, a lobster roll, two jambalayas, pasta, and another dish I can't recall. The shrimp were not fresh and had an off taste. The oysters were borderline spoiled, the lobster roll was extremely dry, and the snow crab smelled bad, indicating it was far from fresh.
The poor quality of the seafood was apparent, and our hands retained an unpleasant smell, suggesting the seafood was not handled properly. Concerned about the quality, I immediately informed our server. She only mentioned she would notify the chef, but there was no follow-up or effort to address our concerns directly.
As a result, six of us felt unwell for the remainder of the afternoon. Fortunately, we avoided food poisoning, but the experience was enough to ensure we will not return. It’s disappointing that a place we once enjoyed has let its standards slip so drastically.
I strongly advise anyone who experiences similar issues to insist on fresh food or request a replacement. I regret not being more assertive and hope others can avoid the...
Read moreWe were really excited to try this place after seeing all of their videos on Instagram so we made Oyster Bar our last stop on our Halloween bar crawl. Everything was so absolutely delicious, it makes their Instagram videos look tame in comparison. We had the fried shrimp basket (hand dipped and so delicious), the 1 lb shrimp cocktail (so fresh and the shrimp were huge!) and the star of the show, the cioppino which ... My husband and I travel a lot and we have ordered cioppino in a lot of places, Michelin starred places, but this was by far the best we've ever had. The broth was so rich and the fish so fresh. The fried fish filet was such a different and delicious addition. The presentation of the dish was only topped by how delicious it was. My husband ordered it but everyone at the table helped him finish it. We did not order a single thing that wasn't incredibly fresh, delicious and pretty to look at.
One other note: we were rude and showed up about 30 minutes before closing. Even so, the service was wonderful. The food was fresh and delicious and our server was a complete sweetheart. We ordered a few other things and expected a big bill so we were shocked at how inexpensive our meal for four was. We will definitely be back and we will recommend Oyster Bar to everyone...
Read moreIt's a decent environment no complaints. No issues with the staff. Main issue is it's a shell of the real deal. The place in Vegas is amazing. It really chaffed my hide paying the same price here as the one in Vegas. The natomas location is an inferior product. They cut the dish with chicken so they can save money by cutting back on how much crab and lobster you get. It's unacceptable to charge the same price when you're getting ripped off. They save money by cutting they're product and then make the customers pay for it. Every item on the menu is outrageously overpriced. The garlic noodles were pretty pricey for noodles and they were mediocre at best. Then I have to tip 20 or 30$ because the dishes are so expensive. What am I tipping so much for? You bring me a cup and my meal and then ask me if I'm okay one time. How is that worth 20$? Plenty of other places for me to get robbed at sorry not sorry. Place isn't good enough thats just the reality of it. On top of that I have to reach my hands in my soup to pill out crab and shrimp and I have to crack it myself?! I'm paying like 80$ for 2 people and I have to get my hands and clothes all nasty and messy swimming around in my soup cracking my own sesfood!? Unacceptable. That stuff better already be cracked...
