I made a spur of the moment stop for breakfast at Frog Pond for the first time and I'm glad l did. The place was packed. I usually see a line outside on Sunday morning as l drive by and l can understand why. The staff is very pleasant from the moment you walk in until the time you leave. I believe the manager seated me and he was very welcoming and hospitable. I sat down and someone was right there to get me a beverage before ordering. My server Megan also did a fantastic job right from the beginning. She was very pleasant and welcoming. Although l knew what l wanted she guided me to the right size dishes so l wouldn't get too much. I ordered the Spanish omlet with sour cream on the side. It came with my choices of toast and grits. I also ordered what l saw on the specials board, a pumpkin pancake, which l was truly pumped for. The food came faster than expected with the big crowd, and Megan also brought me a pitcher of water, which was great for me because I like a lot to drink. The Spanish omlet was great. Very tasty, the egg wrap was solid, the vegetable fillings were cut fresh, the salsa was flavorful, and it all went well with the sour cream side. The grits and toast were also good, and they had strawberry jam in a dish on the table. The pumpkin pancake was excellent. It was very big and it had the filling, flavor, and texture of a pumpkin muffin. I can't describe how good it was, but it was light, full of flavor, and went down smooth. I even saved it as the last bite to end the meal on that taste. Next to me was an elderly couple that seemed to come there every Sunday. The servers were taking extra care of them and engaging them in conversation where others might ignore them. They even helped them up from the table as they were having a hard time. They went out of their way to make the couple feel special. Megan was very friendly and warm as l left the restaurant and she had done a great job checking in on me. It was a very nice experience. They have a winning formula there with natural hospitality and well made food. It is definitely worth the visit and something you would want to try for a good breakfast and...
Read moreI will start by saying I have eaten here in the past and it was not bad (way over priced) but not bad.
That said, we ate here Friday morning and ordered two eggs with Corned Beef Hash, toast, an Omelette and two coffees and the bill was $35.00 (without the tip).
I will say the waitress was outstanding but the food coming from the kitchen was terrible. My friend had no complaints about her omelette but I ordered two eggs over medium, Corned Beef hash, rye toast, and home fries well done. The eggs, the toast, and the home fries were stone cold when they arrived to my table. Of course they tried to correct the issue by rushing another plate to me before my friend finished her breakfast and the eggs were under cooked, the home fries were white (like they had just put them on the grill) and there was no toast. The waitress came back and asked how everything was, I told her the eggs were runny and undercooked and I got no toast, once again she tried to correct the situation by getting me two more eggs (once again rushed and way under cooked) and toast that was slathered with so much butter I wouldn't even begin to eat it. She once again stopped by to ask how it was (since I hadn't touched either plate, I have NO idea why she would even ask???), I said fine, please stop trying to correct an already bad situation and then she proceeded to say she would take my breakfast off the bill. I heard her discuss it with the host (who I think may have been the owner). She dropped off the bill and not only did she NOT take anything off the bill, this garbage and comedy of errors cost me $35.00 and change. So for $40.00 I got to experience a 20 minute wait for a table, a freezing cold dining room, subpar dog food, and an outrageously costly breakfast.....Needless to say, I WILL NEVER EAT...
Read moreThought I tried a new place out . Was seated immediately and waiter took our order . He was friendly and nice . I inquired about the orange juice and noticed they had two selection 1- orange juice 2- Fresh squeezed orange juice . I inquired about the fresh squeezed orange juice and not pasteurized or concentrate from a bottle or can . He assured me the difference and said it was fresh squeezed so I ordered the fresh squeezed orange juice .
Placed my breakfast order and it came promptly. The food was good large portions but taste was pretty bland . The Belgian waffle was pretty soggy even with all the syrup and toppings on the side . Egg was pretty dried but tasted more like food to fill up with after a late night party .
The service was prompt and servers were nice, polite and attentive .
So far a good experience until I tasted my orange juice and definitely tasted like it came out of a bottle . I asked if this was fresh squeezed and the waiter kindly apologies and removed it off our bill .
A few minutes later someone, I assumed was a supervisor or manger but not sure, came up to me and said " so FRIEND I hear you did not like the orange juice ." He went on to explain that there are no fresh squeezed orange juice anywhere around here as it would be to cost prohibitive to squeeze fresh oranges . Here ( The Frog Pond ) we use the least processed pasteurized orange juice . This is me just summarizing the guy's pretty long explanation / excuse .
I thought about pointing out the menu and showing him where it shows the option for orange juice and fresh squeezed orange juice but thought about it and it would be pointless . Pick your battle I guess and this wasn't worth it . I always like to try new locals places and sometime it's a win and...
