Another wonderful dinner at Current. I left SLC area after seasonal 4 month stints for many years and was recently back in town...I had to hit up Current, still one of my fav SLC spots, for their excellent seafood and inspired cocktail and wine menu.

Our server was excellent. She made great recommendations for both our cocktails and meals.

We started with an order of their fries which are outstanding. Fries are made of freshly cut potato,, double fried, seasoned and delightfully crispy; they are served with three dipping sauces including the ubiquitous Utah 'fry sauce' which I suspect is mayo and catsup, but also a spicy furitake aioli and an herbed aioli.

My dining companion had the burger, well done, and it was cooked as ordered. He enjoyed it as well as the fries because they are that good.

We both had the berry salad. Delicious with a light citrus dressing, almonds and berries of course.

I ordered the fish stew which has an Asian flavor with coconut and Cilantro. It had a lovely piece of seared white fish, mussels, shrimp and a scallop as well as cauliflower, carrots and onions. Very good. If you don't like spicy ask for the Serrano chili plop on the side.

We had cocktails, both delicious, and a glass of Furmint, the white grape used to make a sweet Hungarian wine called Tokay, which was a treat as I have never seen it on a wine list before. The only place I had seen it previously was Limerick Lane cellars when they produced a couple of vintages of the dry Furmint before they did their late harvest Furmint (I still have a few precious bottles of this as it ages like Sauternes).

We finished with the guava cheesecake. One of the best desserts I have had in a while. Lightly sweet cheesecake with a super crunchy crumble crust.
