If you’re searching for the best seafood restaurant in San Antonio, look no further than Bayseas Seafood on Culebra! A soulful Southern twist, specializing in mouthwatering catfish, shrimp, oysters, gumbo, and more. As a local foodie always on the hunt for top-notch fried seafood near Alamo Ranch, I was blown away by their quality, cleanliness, and friendly service—making it a must-visit for anyone craving authentic Texas seafood.

From the moment I walked in, the spotless environment stood out. Unlike some greasy spoons, Bayseas Seafood Restaurant doesn’t have that overpowering fishy smell; it’s immaculately clean and inviting, perfect for families or a casual lunch. The staff greeted me with genuine Texas hospitality, checking in multiple times to ensure everything was perfect. Their menu is packed with crowd-pleasers like catfish dinners, shrimp and oyster platters, po-boy sandwiches, and even soul food favorites for those mixing it up.

I went for the Fish and Shrimp Platter (a classic catfish and shrimp combo with fries), and it was spot on! The fresh catfish fillets were huge, golden-fried to perfection without being oily, and honestly, I got more than expected—generous portions that left me with plenty of leftovers. The shrimp were plump and crispy, but the real surprise was the coleslaw: crisp, cold, and clearly made fresh right before serving. In Texas, great coleslaw isn’t always a given, but they nailed it. I considered sides like hushpuppies, fried okra, and onion rings round out the meal— but, the fries went with what I had beautifully

AND, I hear their gumbo is legendary (Next time!).

I didn’t even get to try their famous flounder or desserts like sweet potato pie and peach cobbler this time, but I’ll be back soon, but for a lunch special, my meal was even too much for me!

I say BEST fried catfish in San Antonio. BaySeas delivers exceptional value and taste.

Highly recommend Bayseas on Culebra for anyone in the area. Go try it today—you won’t be disappointed! Five stars all the way for this standout seafood spot in San...

Now I’m sick with a cough and decided to order from Ww white . My go-to is converse * been going there for years never had any problems with service in Converse but they’re closed. The lady with the gold dreads that worked on tonight Friday 1/12/24. Straight took my order I told her I was going outside( thinking I don’t wanna get anyone sick with my cough that started today) the lady with the gold dreads or twist / she’s short and kind of light complexion with the pink shirt and blue jeans, looked at me when I came while behind the counter and straight cleaned up the lobby for 15mins before she walked up to me and said your order was ready but you were outside . Duh I told you I was waiting outside common sense is to tell me when I come back in.didn’t say that but definitely wanted too*I begged for a refund they the girl with the black hoodie and beautiful dark skin said well you were outside. I asked again to please just refund me because I don’t want any problems. They decided to throw the piece of fish in the grease from my fish and oyster basket . Sit it on top of everything and handed me my food I just took it and left because I’m sick hungry and tired. . so tomorrow I will bring my sick self back up there and sit in the restaurant coughing and sneezing with no mask and wait on my order! I hope I get everyone sick just for them being petty! Looked at other reviews Misha is her name obviously and...

Why do I continually give this place a chance?

I normally go to the one in Converse & someone told me that things were great here now...(since back in the 90's, this was our go to place...when you could go and pick the fish from the ice).

I moved away for 18 years and when I moved back this place had changed. I have gone back four times after my original disappointing purchase since I have moved back three years ago. The sides are tasteless, the seasons for the fish is as well.

I asked for a boneless fish & we received a bone filled trout. One time we asked for onion rings as a side and received 4 rings... lol. And they were greasy and tasteless.

Again, it's my fault for giving them my 50.00 bucks. I should HAVE asked for one filet so that way, the loss wasn't as much..we threw all of the fish away.

One great thing was that chocolate cake! Geez, it almost reminded me of the SAISD Wednesday Chocolate cake if my youth. Now this is worth coming back for! The seafood - not so much. Also the young lady who answered the phone said she had just started and was...

We decided to go to Baysea’s Seafood by Looking At The description and picture in these reviews. we were pleasantly surprised to find a well prepared dish of fish fry and gumbo. My husband loved the gumbo, which is his favorite dish. The plates were hearty although They use disposable plates. The restaurant atmosphere was nice, quiet spacious, clean and friendly. The service was prompt and attentive. It seems that the place serves the purpose of to go food, and we saw high traffic in that. This restaurant is outside our convenience, access to restaurants, but we took advantage that were passing that neighborhood. The prices are very reasonable, and definitely, I would come back more often if it was closer to my area. Comment: in my opinion, the coleslaw could have a fresher look. Also, the look outside the restaurant needs refreshing so that it looks more appealing.

ordered food for two: a catfish dinner, a medium (12 oz) gumbo, three "sides" and kool-aid. the catfish and fries were reportedly delicious. the cabbage was enjoyed by one and the green beans and red beans and rice were "okay" and they were TINY kid-sized portions. the real let down was the gumbo..... couldn't even finish it. the tabasco tasting roux was not tasty. furthermore,it was primarily rice with only two shrimp and three penny-sliced sausages - yes, I counted. there were more mushrooms than anything. I am an absolute mushroom lover but who does that? mushrooms in gumbo? it was awful 😖. worst of all, prices were recently elevated again (do not trust the online menus). $43.63 and not worth it. I do not recommend.

When your hungry and your visiting it’s okay to just randomly stop somewhere for food! NOT only was the food past amazing the customer service is impeccable. I loved the energy of love and passion for food and customers. If I could afford to order the whole menu I surely would because the food I ate was delicious. I wanted more and more of the gator yes yes yes it gave me life. Hot, fresh, quality food with outstanding customer service makes for a blessing all around. I will visit again because I got the best of both worlds. Customer service and YUMMMY food
