Taco Cabana — Restaurant in San Antonio

Don’t bother going to this location. They always get our orders wrong every single time! The last time we went (and I do mean the last time) I asked for cheese to be added in our tacos and they didn’t add any! I know the the cook saw that I ordered our tacos with cheese because it was on the receipt. Then, the cashier took my cash and didn’t give me change! I asked her for my change and she said that they didn’t have any! Really? Don’t you think you should mention that to me before taking my money? It wasn’t just coin change either! I pulled around, checked our tacos and saw no cheese added. We got back in line and I told the cashier that our tacos didn’t have cheese and she handed me one very small container with some cheese, not nearly enough for all of our tacos! I asked if they could remake the tacos with cheese. The cashier went to tell the cook. Then the cook came to the window. She was being so rude and so aggressive! She said she wasn’t going to change the tacos even though she was the one that didn’t add the cheese in the first place! She told me to take the container of cheese or I could leave! I left and I will not go back to any Taco Cabana ever again! Obviously Taco Cabana does not care how their employees treat their customers! The owner or manager never reached out to me! Seems the owner only replies when it is a positive review! Go look at all the negative reviews on the Taco Cabana corporate website! I also had to rewrite this review because most of what I initially wrote...

I walked into the location at 11722 Interstate 35 Frontage Rd, San Antonio, TX 78233 at O’Connor and 35. I stood there for a minute looking at the employees who were busy with a drive thru order. I was not greeted nor did anyone come to take my order. There was even a staff member who had the headset on for the drive thru on walk toward me, look me in the eye for two seconds as I smiled at her thinking I was going to receive service, then turn to scrape the grill that’s about 5 feet from the front counter. I understand needing to get something done but was shocked even more so that she didn’t alert the rest of the kitchen staff that someone was waiting to order. There was 1 couple in the dining area waiting on food and 1 car in the drive thru waiting at the window. As I left I alerted a worker who was outside gathering trash from the bins that the staff inside should be more courteous and acknowledge people waiting and that I don’t have the time to wait until it is convenient for them to even bother to ask to give them a second and they’ll be with me in a moment. I also told her they lost my business. The woman said nothing to me as I even paused before a got into my car. I was never rude in my tone of voice either. I have worked the food industry before and I professionally work as a retail supervisor where customer service is key. I am astounded by the lack of hospitality at this location and though it’s only a mile from my house I will never try to get food at that...

My wife pulls in at 9:35 (they close at 10PM). Waits 15 minutes to place our drive through order due to 8-10 cars in front of her, is told no margaritas and grill is closed. She can't order anything that we planned (margaritas and fajitas) and places order for two carne guisada plates. She gets to the window and asks the cashier (basically) "WTH, I was in line 25 minutes before you close and I can't order 2/3 of the menu?" Cashier answers, "sorry sometimes we close early when we're slow"...if they were so slow, why did it it take 15+ minutes to place an order?...and 2/3 of their products were unavailable 30 minutes to closing time?

Who runs a business like that?

From now on we will drive the extra 3 miles to Taco Palenque. The food is far better and the customer service is for sure 1000% better. And they close way later than Taco Cabana, and 100% of the menu is available when they are open...all of it - until they actually close.

TC better wake up and realize there are some superior competitors challenging them; and unfortunately TC is losing!!! Mama Margie's and Taco Palenque have better food, better hours, and far better...
