This is the best Dutch crunch sandwich I’ve ever had. I’ve traveled around the world and even live close to an Ike’s in San Francisco. This place beats the Dutch crunch sandwich at Ikes hands-down. Way better than subway sandwiches and Mr. pickles.
Definitely worth a drive from San Francisco for this hidden gem sandwich lunch and breakfast spot in San Carlos. The Dutch crunch bread came warm, was soft in the inside crispy on the outside and was a thick piece of bread versus the too soft thin Dutch crunch at Ike’s. The pepperoncini was unique and delicious, the felt meats were super fresh and filling.
The staff is friendly and I was able to place an order over the phone for pick up before a soccer and tennis game. A warm toasted Dutch crunch was waiting for me when I arrived. I decided to dine in and there was a clean table ready for me. The gentleman that runs the shop was super nice, and I even forgot the item and he helped me retrieve the personal item I forgot there. He chatted with the family and we saw other families and kids there as well.
Super family friendly local spot with the best dutch crunch bread sandwiches in the Bay Area.
Plenty of street parking, clean restaurant, and fast service. Highly...
Read moreThis was my first experience with The Sandwich Spot, and it will be my last. The place is quaint and clean, and the service was prompt. The menu is clever, reminiscent of other local sandwich restaurants like Prima Deli or Lou’s. However, the quality of the service was terrible to say the least. I was “greeted” by the young man at the counter with a blank stare, a long, sour face, and I perceived there to be the expectation to rattle off my order as if I’d been a patron for decades. I most definitely didn’t feel welcome then, and not welcomed to return. I felt as if I was inconveniencing them by giving them my business. As for my sandwich, it wasn’t bad, but it wasn’t...
Read moreI placed a pickup order through DoorDash for 7 sandwiches and 2 salads, and added one more sandwich in person when I arrived. It ended up taking over an hour to prepare 8 sandwiches and 2 salads. When I arrived, the staff made it known that he was the only one making sandwiches, while the cashier stood by and did nothing to help.
The store was clearly overwhelmed—multiple customers were turned away, and the lone sandwich maker was audibly frustrated, saying he was doing everything by himself. I understand being short-staffed, but accepting large orders while knowing you can’t fulfill them in a timely manner is just...
