Upscale aged steakhouse in downtown San Diego. Would have been 4 stars but for the price i was expecting a lot more. The ambiance and decor was very enjoyable and eclectic. The music was loud enough that we were shouting to be heard in conversation and could hardly hear the hostess. Nice large bar with a decent selection as well as some house specialty cocktails. The presentation and plating was top notch and the food was quite attractive. There is a large dry aging case at the rear with many huge cuts on display. Our server was very nice. Overall the service (on a Saturday night at 8 pm) was lacking (though professional and pleasant when it happened). Water glasses were often empty and used plates accumulated until we stacked them ourselves. Our meals (party of 5) arrived with sides missing and some was cold. :( i sent back the brussle sprouts (nasty). The clam chowder, though very tasty, took me 10 minutes to pry the clams out of the shells so my wife could eat it. The truffle butter mash potato was great but the parmesean fries were so so. The bread was quite tasty and presented in a nice vertical basket. The lamb chops were the shinning star. New york steak was ok and the fillet was good but not great. Crab cakes were well done but spicy sauce. They charged $49 for a very small lobster tail. It was cold. We sent it back. They sent a new one which was hot but flavorless. Not worth $49. They impose 3.75% cost of goods surcharge. Could have been great but $400 for party of 5 with no drinks is enough that the experience should have been great. Hard to recommend at this price point. We were underwhelmed to the point that we did not want to risk dessert.

I had an incredibly disappointing experience at this restaurant. Apart from waiting too long to get attention from the waiter who was busy with other tables and the steak that had way too much fat, the guy who brought the foods accidentally threw a glass of wine over my light blue jacket placed on a chair next to me. I was shocked to see this happening and the server apparently could not speak English well was also shocked couldn't apologize quickly cleaned the table and left! My jacket was there soaking in wine. A few minutes later the manager came asked me "Is everything ok?" I was like WHAT?? the heck is wrong here instead of apologizing immediately he is making me to relive the experience and describe to him what happened. Long story short he took my number promised to send my jacket to dry cleaner. We were sitting under a heater outside so I took my jacket off but after dinner I had to walk home jacket-less feeling cold. He was so clueless and unqualified, did not make any accommodations or deductions in the bill not even for the wine as you can see here in the receipt attached here. We were there Saturday night now is Wednesday night 4 days later and I have not heard from the manager or anyone about my jacket or anything. I don't blame the food server for an accident but I do find the manager utterly unqualified and appalling. After waiting 4 days I decided to leave this review and express my frustration. A week before we went to the neighbor restaurant Greystone and had an excellent experience completely the opposite of here.

Definitely believe the reviews- food is expensive and not worth the money. Coming from hospitality and being a foodie I don't mind paying top dollar for a well executed meal. But unfortunately this place isn't it. All other steakhouses were booked, so I booked here. It's a restaurant that is very showy with the dry aged meats on the wall and cool aesthetic, which is all great as long as you can deliver on the food. This wasn't the case. We were the first ones in the restaurant as we had a 4pm reservation. The person who sat us didn't ask us if we had a reservation until I told her as we were halfway to our table. As a previous GM for a hotel and restaurant, it should be priority to know your reservations and if there are any special occasions, dietary notes etc. We were celebrating my 30th bday and my boyfriend had made a note for it on our reservation. There wasn't any acknowledgement of the celebration. We even heard our server ask the one other table in the restaurant if they were celebrating anything, but unfortunately we weren't asked. My boyfriend wanted to set up a small dessert for me, but the opportunity didn't present itself unfortunately. I highly recommend the staff utilize the notes feature from your reservation system, it really enhances the guest experience. If a guest is putting a note, they want it to be acknowledged in the least. Very important for dietary restrictions.

Like I said we were the only ones in the restaurant and it still took about 10/15 mins to get our first round. The cocktails were underwhelming.

The appetizers were okay. Shrimp was fried, but soggy with all the sauce on top. Muscles and clams were edible, but lacked flavor. It was a heavy tomato based sauce, not what I was expecting. When the menu leads with white wine and garlic. The lobster Mac and cheese was inedible. My boyfriend and I didn't eat any of it after the first bite. Extremely thin sauce and a bad type of fishy taste. We love lobster, but this was not good. No flavor besides the fishiness and we didn't sense any type of cheese. We asked for the steak medium rare. It was definitely more rare and there was zero seasoning/flavor. We don't mind a rare steak, however it was cold when it came to the table - we had a show to get to so we just needed to finish up and get out of there. No harm no foul. The waitress said from the start we could always have it recooked, which I see how the server can see it as a nice gesture, but a steakhouse should be confident in their temperatures, especially when that's what they're known for. The server shouldn't be offering to have it recooked before we even order one. Should have been a red flag, especially after reading the other reviews!

Fries were honestly the best part, but that's hard to mess up.

The servers seemed to lead with apologies, which looking back makes sense as they are probably used to the same complaints we had. Highly recommend a re-training as its clear there are some internal doubts from the staff that seem to come out to your guests. It was also strange how the server changed halfway through our reservation without mention. When we were the first ones in there when they opened and there was no mention this was happening. I understand she maybe got there to open at 2:30/3 for a 4pm shift, but it was only 4:45 seemed strange to take a break at that time when you had an multiple active tables and without mentioning to your guests.

Ultimately it wasn't worth $200+tip to leave hungry from...

Just don't go. Expect big mistakes and bad service.

From the get-go, the ladies at the front ignored me standing in front of them and talked to each other. When the rest of the party arrived and we were seated, things seemed alright! It wasn't.

It was a VERY mixed bag of quality. The burrata? Fantastic! But I don't think they're making cheese in the back, so that's not on them.

One in our group was looking to get their comic con special but we were told that the entire group had to get the special or none. Still not sure why? It was mentioned in a Yelp review that a party couldn't do this because one of their group had dietary restrictions that the menu didn't accommodate. That's a trash policy.

My girlfriend and I ended up getting an order that had ravioli, two lamb chops and a steak. The two lamb chops of the SAME order weren't even reasonably close to the same cook. One was great, the other barely seared and gummy when trying to cut it.

The one well-cooked lamb chop and burrata were the outliers for the evening. In a several-member party, we had: •Undercooked steaks •Overcooked steaks •Alright ravioli •REALLY bad macaroni •Brussel sprouts that were GREAT with the first bite but mushy and soft just a minute later

(We saw the bad lobster macaroni mentioned negatively on Yelp but did it anyway! Learn from our mistake)

As mentioned in other reviews, there were charges that are poorly labeled on the receipt and they were unable to split a check in any other way but evenly. Our order was around $200 where another's was like $40. How can a business accept a multiple person table and not split a check in 2023?

When we asked about the confusingly labeled charges so that we could fairly split the check ourselves over Venmo, the manager got mad at us trying to sort the charges. He was INCREDIBLY rude and unhelpful. Comic Con had that street packed but The Butcher's Cut was downright QUIET inside He wasn't overworked for the hour and change we were there and neither was the rest of the staff as far as we could see. So, no idea about the reasons behind these complications or the truly rude response to what has to be a fairly common question.

This was a bad experience made worse by awful management. Great decorating, though? 5 stars for the cool ropes on the ceiling. 1 star for...

A true gem in the steakhouse business! The ambiance that they have created with the intricate lighting is nothing like I have ever seen before. All of the tasteful decorations compliment the contemporary feel of the room while adding a certain flair that is so uniuqe. The dry aging locker is visible from the front which makes it so fun to be able to see the process of your delicious steaks becoming so flavorful with time. The staff and hostesses are extremely friendly and attentive and work so well together to make this up and coming gem work to it's highest potential. All of the managers are very diligent and look to be able to handle any situation thrown their way in a very professional manner. I really appreciate how they all work together to make the dining experience wonderful for everyone!

For the food, the dry aging process really does wonders for the flavor that is encapsulated in these beautiful steaks. I ordered my tomahawk chop medium rare and it was so juicy and tender it was practically falling off of the bone. The surf and turf special came with beautifully pan seared scallops and a soft and tender lobster tail served in the shell with a dollop of mashed potatoes tucked nicely under the bone of the steak. All of these were displayed so beautifully and the sauce really tied everything together (I wish I would've gotten the recipe for that amazing sauce!). I couldn't resist the smell so I dug in too quickly before I got the chance to even take a photo! All of the seafood was so fresh and the steaks are so wonderfully done I will be returning here for happy hour and steak many times to come!

There are lots of options here for anyone that walks through the door. They have gluten free, vegan, and keto options and all of their dishes are customizable to the customers needs as well!

They have an impeccable wine list and they even allow you to bring your own bottle (with a corking fee). Specialty crafted cocktail list is full of something for everyone and even some new creations I have never seen before! Drink prices are impossible to beat during happy hour! And don't miss tequila Tuesdays!!
