Terrible service! Today I walked almost a mile from my hotel to try this place out. I was harassed by a couple of homeless ppl to arrive to a locked door. The glass door was shattered so I wondered if something happened causing them to close because I saw food in the warmer but no one was visible. I called the phone as a gentleman came out of the bathroom. He was drying his hands so I assumed he washed them, which is great! However, he did not acknowledge me & answered the phone instead. I inquired whether he was open & he said “no” so I asked what time they closed. He proceeded to explain how he had to go to the bathroom & was the only worker there. Obviously confused, I was prepared to leave when he opened the door. I told him I was confused because he said they were closed. Seemingly perturbed, he expresses again that he’s the only one there. I left it alone. He used a piece of cardboard to prop the door open, pulled his hair back & asked what I wanted. Since this was my first visit I hesitated. He abruptly walked to the kitchen telling me to let him know when I was ready. He returned with his apron. I ordered chicken & asked how many sides came with the combo. He told me I could get as many as I wanted. So I asked if the combo came with sides & he said no. At this point I became irritated because his curtness persisted. Finally, I added the sides. Without an explanation he simply walks to the kitchen again to actually “cook” the sides or maybe just warm them up on stove. After he bagged the food he asked me multiple x if I wanted ketchup. I said hot sauce only which seemed to surprise him. So I confirmed that he made the two sides I requested. Instead of answering the question he responded that he got what I asked for. I asked 3 more x to receive the similar responses never answering the question. Finally I told him never mind & I didn’t appreciate his attitude. He was clearly unbothered. Oh also, when he initially got the chicken he did not clean his hands again or put on gloves until he made the sides. That door was filthy & his hair looked unkept. I was sure his finger touched a piece of chicken. Can’t say how the food was but it looked appealing. I definitely would not return here...
Read moreMy friends were skeptical because of the few reviews on this place but I decided to try it out while on vacation here in SF. I was blown away, the chicken was some of the best fried chicken I’ve ever had. Super crispy crust, juicy, and it was piping hot. Had a 10 minute walk back to the place we were staying and still had to let it cool down. Mac and cheese was the homestyle type you’d expect from a family picnic or pot luck, which was to my surprise and delight. Honey biscuit was to die for, simple and delicious. The only bad things I’ll say are that it took about 15 minutes to prepare and we were the only ones in there (but in turn it was made fresh to order) and it is not in the best area, so I’d recommend parking out front and just going...
Read moreBest fried chicken, hands down. I can't lie as a SF native when I first seen the address I was tad bit apprehensive but happy I gave it a try. First and foremost staff was very welcoming and let me take time to review the menu. Establishment was clean, no sticky floors or tables. Now to the good part the food. I had the three piece chicken and when I say each piece was seasoned and fried to perfection. I melted like butter from the initial bite. It has been so hard to find crispy fried chicken that's not dried out, the moisture. Chicken was chefs kiss. The biscuit!!! Warm and soft, I felt like I was in my grandma kitchen. I was beyond satisfied and will be a...
