The Branham Lounge — Restaurant in San Jose

You can be pretty or ugly. Just sit at the bar side and someone is sure to try and pick up on you. Most people complain about the unfriendly staff. I think the staff was the best part of being there. I was 86d by the owner. I hosted trivia night there on a Wednesday evening when no one was typically around the bar. My son needed to eat dinner and rode his bike down the street. He decided he would sit at the tables in front because they had no ropes or signs saying that the tables were reserved for 21 and up. No one attempted to id my kid but instead the owner sent me a nasty message and decided to call me out and call me a bad parent. Such a shame because I was a regular that spent a lot of money at that establishment. Either way I don't feel it was okay to disregard the fact that he did not actually ask my kid for his ID so to anyone else including myself it was intentional and hurtful. I won't go into the reason for that. Regardless. I saw greatness in this place. But people aren't actually as nice as they seem when they think you might bring them...

Well worn and it shows the lack of updating. Mostly fine but feel unclean though it really isn't (except the bathrooms which are regularly abused by drunk patrons. They were nasty and I held until I went home). Bar and bartenders were good though if they knew you you were treated way better and faster. This visit was after 10 PM and it was loud (DJ), packed and a little sketchy feeling. Nothing happened and everyone seems to be having a good time though. I was happy to leave around midnight and won't likely com back after 10 again.

Previous visit was happy hour time frame. Completely different experience and my friends Manhattans were monumentally better. Beer selection was good with some great craft beers. No special happy hour deals but it was a good, nearby place to stop while it is light out.

Would give 4 stars if it were solely based on the happy hour visit but with the last visit where the bartenders were not so friendly and helpful, drink were just Meh and the bathroom was...

Went there for happy hours with my teammate. The place is really not as advertised. It is really a dark bar. 1 barmaid which was fully occupied with the already full bar (12 people) at the bar. We arrived around 15h30 to 17h30. The selection of beer was limited to about 10 choices. The menu was not available as advertised on their website. Absolutely nothing to eat. Service require to go to the bar. The barmaid told us at arrival that the lounge is under restructuration hence the menu is not available and draft beers are limited.

This place is good only for drinkers that want to drink alcool in a traditional dark bar. It's not a lounge, neither a upscale bar, neither a place to go with a group of person. It's an after work bar where older people go to drink before going...
