Great State Burger — Restaurant in Seattle

To be honest I had very low expectations going into this - I'm not usually one for burgers or super greasy food so I had avoided this place for almost a year. THAT WAS A HUGE MISTAKE. My coworker wanted to go there so I tagged along and I was blown. away. by the quality and flavor of their food. I had a single combo with a chocolate shake and it was everything I wanted and more. Their fries were probably my favorite - perfectly golden and crispy but soft in the center. The crinkle cut really keeps the housemade fry sauce on the fry which is great.

I have heard from other coworkers that sometimes the cheese on the burger can be a little less melted than it could be which causes it to slide off but mine was perfect and stayed together. YMMV, but I was happy with the cheese.

Fabulous burgers, but like everything else in Seattle these days, the cost is shocking. The service rates three stars because the server was okay, not good or bad, just normal, so it gets a three stars. The atmosphere also gets three stars because it is situated on a downtown street corner with no seating of its own and there isn't even an eating counter. There a number of low and wide wooden benches belonging to the open court of the large high rise building adjacent to the burger stand, but it is nicer to eat at a table with the option of shade. The food gets five stars despite the burger size being on the smaller side and the cost being higher than I want to pay but still within current Seattle norms. Similar experience to what others wrote already and it wasn't that pleasant. Almost wanted to give it 3 stars, but I can't even drink that shake since it's that bad.

Burger tasted pretty good in terms of flavor, but it was pretty small for the price of $6.50. They toasted the buns with butter probably and lettuce was fresh.

Ordered a strawberry shake and arrived to hear that they are out so it got replaced with a vanilla one instead. Didn't ask if I even wanted one and walked away before I could even say anything even though no one was there. No napkins inside my bag and the vanilla shake tasted strange like cheesecake or something similar. It was really thick if that's the way you like the shake. Not even close to vanilla flavor...
