As a Greek, I was excited about another Greek restaurant, but unfortunately was disappointed by the food. We ordered the octopus and moussaka. The octopus was terrible, it was extremely tough. All that chewing definitely gave our face some exercise. The moussaka was okay, but was mostly bechamel cream and very little of everything else. It could use a layer of potatoes. The avgolemono soup and green beans were pretty good. On the other hand, the service was great, the waiter was very Nice and attentive and the decor was fun.

WOW! Kostas Opa is back! After 10 years since Costas in Fremont closed, I am so happy that they reopened a couple of months ago in close-by Wallingford! The avgolemono is just as I remembered, absolutely delicious! And the gyro sandwich was also good. The look and feel of the place is very close to the place I would frequent in the 80's and beyond. UPDATE: I went back with a few colleagues for dinner and work discussion and had a great time! Great food and service!

This space is absolutely gorgeous inside! It had all the right amount of Greek decor! The food was good, the Avgolemono soup was my favorite, I o ended up ordering another cup. My only complaint is that the ambiance was kinda “sleepy” I would have loved to hear music welcoming me in and liven up the space, but overall, I had a good experience and will be back to try more plates!

We were so excited for this spot to open right around the corner from us so we came here for lunch on a weekday a few days after it opened. It was pretty quiet, a few folks came in while we sat at a booth which was comfy. The gyro meat was okay, but the gyro itself had a lot of raw onion in it and stuffed mostly with not-hot French fries. I paid over $17 for a chicken souvlaki plate, but only got 4 tiny cubes on chicken with the rest being mushroom/tomato which was pretty disappointing. The rice was okay on this plate. Our favorite part was the salad dressing which had great olive flavor, even though the side salad was just chopped lettuce with 1 slice of only semi-ripe tomato and 1 slice of cucumber. Flavors across the board were only so so.

The staff was very nice and I really hope that this place works out the kinks to stick around in our Wallingford...

Do you like garlic? Of course you do. Do you like lemon? Naturally. Have you ever have a meal so spectacular you devour appetizer, entree and dessert hardly believing each could possibly be more delicious than the dish before? If you've eaten at Kostas Opa, then you could say yes.

Atmosphere is like dining inside a time capsule, with antique Greek items adorning every wall and non-dining surface; a different lovely surprise around every corner.

Staff was incredible, helpful, and knowledgeable.

The food was fabulous. If you have never had Greek food before, you are missing out! Comfort food with classic Mediterranean flavor. The dishes are authentic and will leave you full and happy. My favorite is the saganaki appetizer; a slab of cheese deep-fried, and set on fire tableside then doused with lemon juice and eaten...

Kostas Opa is the best Greek restaurant you’ll ever encounter (short of maybe actually going to Greece 😉). My family has been frequenting Kostas for YEARS, since 1981! Celebrating anniversary’s, birthdays, daddy-daughter dates, prom dinner, Mother’s Day, and just because. We’ve never been disappointed and I highly suggest getting Saganaki, Souvlaki and of course the best Baklava you’ll ever have. I could say so many more wonderful things, but I’m going to let the service, food and vibe speak for itself. When the cheese is on fire, don’t forget...
