When I walked in and said, "I'm from Boston", and the guy behind the counter came back with, "Oh, so you came all this way and didn't bring me a lobster roll?", I knew I was in the right place. 😁😁😁 And while I live in New England, I've been around the country a fair bit, and I've had me some barbecue. From Virginia and Kentucky to the Carolinas and even Florida, I'm always on the lookout for a smoker next to a gas station. But when it comes to Texas, well, you gotta put on your big boy pants. Chef Ronnie Killen has apparently been cooking all his life, to the point where he's got a whole empire of different restaurants in the Houston area. And so it wouldn't be that surprising to find out that after adding so many locations to his restaurant enough that the quality of the food might start to slide. Nope! That was not my experience at all at The Woodlands location. Every meat I tried was delicious, and the sides were no joke either. I wish I had room for dessert, but who are we kidding? I would just go back and get more BBQ! The standout for me was the pork belly burnt ends, or as I like to call them, meat candy! They were so good, I would just go back and order as many of those ends as they would give me. Yes, yes, it's Texas, and you know a "better" joint right down the street from this one, but I'm here to say, you better put some respect on Killen's BBQ, because the crew slinging 'Q in The Woodlands are not to be trifled with! They are the real deal!

Killen’s BBQ is hands-down one of the best barbecue spots you’ll find, setting the gold standard for Texas-style BBQ. From the moment you walk in, the mouthwatering aroma of smoked meats gets your appetite going, and the casual, welcoming vibe makes it the perfect spot for a hearty meal. The brisket is the star of the show—tender, perfectly marbled, and packed with smoky flavor. The bark on the outside is a masterpiece in itself. The ribs are another standout, with meat that falls off the bone and a glaze that’s just the right balance of sweet and savory. For sausage lovers, the jalapeño-cheddar sausage is a must-try. Sides are just as impressive. The mac and cheese is creamy and rich, the coleslaw is crisp and refreshing, and the creamed corn adds a touch of indulgence to the meal. Don’t skip dessert—the banana pudding is the perfect Southern finish. Service is friendly and efficient, even during busy times, and the portions are generous. While there might be a bit of a wait, it’s worth every minute. Killen’s BBQ isn’t just a meal; it’s an experience that showcases what Texas barbecue is all about. If you’re a barbecue fan, Killen’s is a bucket-list destination. Highly recommend!

If you’re in the area and craving BBQ the food is good and will probably satisfy the craving. I am a BBQ aficionado and much more critical than most people. I had ribs and house sausage with cream corn and baked beans. The ribs were a nice cut and had a good bite, the sausage also had a crisp casing which I like and good flavor. I did not enjoy the sides as much, they did not taste fresh and seemed like they had been on a steam table for too long or were a carry over from the previous day. I guess the best way I can sum up my experience is if you’re in the area I definitely would not hesitate to stop. I on the other hand would probably not make a special trip to try it if I lived outside the area as I do. The next time I’m in The Woodlands I will be going back to try the Chicken Fried Steak. I saw a couple of other customers who had it and it looked good.

What a horrible experience I had at this location (8800 Six Pines) in The Woodlands, Tx. I waited in line & ordered a lunch meal with greens, potato salad and barbeque pork ribs. I didn't look at the meal until I made it home which was only about 5 minutes away. The pork ribs they sold me were tough, greasy and cold. So I called the restaurant and asked to speak with a manager. A male by the name of Thomas answered the phone and he told me he was the manager. He sounded like a kid and he was very unprofessional but I gave him the benefit of the doubt. I explained to him the pork ribs I purchased were very hard and cold. The pork ribs didn't seem fresh at all. Thomas said to come back in and he would give me a replacement meal after going back and forth with him over the phone. I arrived back at the restaurant and spoke with Thomas. He said what would you like me to do. I told him I would like my ribs replaced. I didn't have a problem with the potato salad and the greens but the barbeque pork ribs were horrible. Thomas walked off in the middle of our conversation and some guy by the name of Jeff Colby approached me and asked me how can he help. I told him that I was talking to Thomas about the food that I purchased. Jeff then replied...."Well, Thomas isn't really a manager, he's only a manager when I'm not around." So I explained myself again to Jeff Colby regarding my food and how I wasn't happy with the pork ribs. Jeff didn't resolve the issue. He made things worse by arguing with me and not making things right. I informed Jeff that I would like a replacement. After going back and forth with Jeff and wasting my time on a Sunday I just settled for a piece of brisket and left the place unhappy and amazed that Jeff and Thomas don't know anything about customer service. Without customers, they wouldn't even have a business. I will try to locate the owner of this place via the BBB and express my horrible experience about what happened. I have never been treated so poorly by people who call themselves managers. I will never return to this establishment ever again. It was only a $15 meal and Jeff Colby couldn't even make things right with an unhappy customer. It's quite obvious that Thomas & Jeff Colby exhibit unprofessional and poor customer service skills. They need a better manager at that location who cares about...

We have mixed feelings about this place. Do not dine here for dinner if you are hungry. Took almost 90 min for the food to get to our table and it wasn't even hot. So by the time we did eat we were famished. The portions were good and the food was OK. The steaks were awesome but the asparagus was inedible and had to be cut with the steak knife. We sent it back and got a baked potato instead. The mac and cheese and bread pudding were to die for.

When it came to the service though it was the strangest experience we had. Somebody comes around with a butter knife and scrapes the crumbs off the table? That was odd and they seemed so peeved. When we needed to divide the tab at our table the server was like 'fine and walked off. She then.came back with mocktails(we didn't ask for them) and said they were on the house. Ok cool. Tried it, liked them so my friend ordered another (understanding we were paying for it cause only the 1st was free). She came back with the second mock tail and the server looked at my friend dead in the face so seriously and said "you're cut off". Like huh? Ok also weird. Then she came back with a single check and had to tell her again that we needed to divide it into 2. She came back with our checks and charged us for everything including both mocktails and the asparagus. At that point we gave up and just paid it. Our server did not want to be there.

The atmosphere is iffy. Could be great if you are there with a significant other or a side piece. If you don't want anyone seeing you this place is great. Lighting is minimal. So the food is great the service was awkward and the atmosphere is ok.

Before any asks, no we weren't Karen's. We weren't loud or obnoxious. We did have a pleasant experience overall but I don't think its a place we would go again for that kind of money...
