We just walked out of a very disappointing dinner. DO NOT WALK IN! HORRIBLE SERVICE! It was an expensive dinner for mediocre food. We ordered appetizers and main courses. After waiting for more than half an hour we called the waitress to ask about the appetizer. Then she stated that she thought that we want everything at once when we never said the appetizer should come with the main course.
Next, they brought out our main courses. When she came to place the main courses on the table we kindly asked that because there was no room on the table to clear it. She proceeded to very rudely answer with “Well, I only have two hands ma’am.”
We ordered a rare steak that arrived to the table overcooked. Then, we received a butter linguine when we ordered one with seafood. When we mentioned that the steak was overcooked the waitress just turned around and walked away from the table. At this point we asked to speak with the manager. We told the manager what happened and asked to replace the steak. She came back with a second steak and asked us to check if it was cooked correctly in front of her. While it seemed to be cooked correctly, when we started eating we came to find out that it was cold. We called her back to the table and told her that the steak is cold inside. She started to argue that we don’t know how a rare steak should be cooked. She left the table without taking the steak with her and instead brought the check without us asking for it. We told her that we would very gladly pay for the steak that included in the bill, but we asked her to fix it for us since in was inedible. Instead of taking the steak back and cooking it correctly, she started an argument and threatened to call the police.
As someone who eats at high end steakhouses regularly and restaurants in general, I can state that this is the worst experience I’ve ever had. DONT COME NEAR THIS PLACE! They will rob your money and give you a bad experience that you will...
Read moreOur neighbors, my husband and myself tried the new local restaurant Rare in Ship Bottom. It was an enjoyable night with our friends, since we hadn’t seen them all winter, until we submitted our payment and tip at the end of the night. The bill was $164.00, our friend left the tip of $35.00 cash with the paid credit card receipt. Imagine our surprise when the owner came to our table asking how the service was? The 4 of us were a bit surprised at her arrival and were confused by her question, we replied fine, why? Apparently, the waitress told her that we only left a $19.00 tip. Our friend told her that was not true since he was the one who left the cash. She left the table, went into the kitchen and came back with the $19.00 that she retrieved from the tip jar. Our friend again, told her that is not what he gave her, he left $35.00. The owner started arguing and getting loud with our friend, who is 78 years old. We saw he was getting frustrated by this entire situation so we joined the conversation stating we saw him give the $35.00. We knew this to be true since my husband gave him change for his large bills. He left a $20 bill, a $10 bill and $5 singles. The owner refused to believe us and asked us to leave. When we got to the door a man came from the kitchen and started screaming at my husband to get out or he was calling the cops? I can honestly say I have never been questioned about a tip and certainly never been asked to vacate a restaurant. I found the whole situation was handled poorly – especially for a new restaurant just starting out. When we tried to put our review on their FaceBook page it was immediately removed. I made a comment under another review about our situation which the owner answered with a completely fabricated account of what happened and then threated us with legal action. I don’t think this establishment will be open for very long if this is any indication of the owner’s...
Read moreMy wife & I went with her best friend & her spouse for her birthday dinner.. we used to go there when it was the greenhouse cafe & the food was constantly good, if not slightly expensive until the last few years. The rare company menu looked promising... unfortunately the food fell flat. The food came out in longer than expected, considering the food was just generally warm, not hot. The presentation for my wife's crab cakes look like they were cooked in a cupcake tin.. I actually thought they were cupcakes. My seafood broil platter, recommended by the server, was underwhelming..the Mahi was blackened well enough but the fish did not taste fresh. Her spouse's dish ( bbq brisket) was barely touched.. to the server's credit, he did have the dish removed from the bill( we did not asked for that, but my wife's bbfs spouse did comment on the excess of the white sauce on the dish as a reason why he barely touched his dish). The server was attentive but he cannot control what comes out of the kitchen. Flatbreads were edible.. and we were not offered the dessert menu or special.. I write this criticism of the food because when I go out to eat, I want to experience food that I would not usually cook at home. What we had, I and our friends in attendance could have easily cooked at home. I want your restaurant to succeed, not fail.. this is why I write this criticism.. thank you for taking the time...
