My professor and I went here to discuss research projects and internships and the staff were super kind. It was my first time being there and I liked the ambience.
First of all, the waitress was very kind. One time, she even looked at me weird, because I asked for permission for a refill on my tea (I just say, "woulds" and "shoulds" when I ask for things, but it sounds like I ask for permission lol). She was like, "Yeah, of course!" and looked back at me with a strange look lol I got the impression she wasn't used to that kind of politeness.
My professor told me he loved the place, because it has a log cabin feel and the hickory smoke smells great. He was right. The place smelled lovely. The wooden interior was beautiful. We joked together, privately, that when they asked if it was "for two", we should've said, "We're just here for the smells...." and inhale deeply lol We were being a little silly lol
The food was great. I got something with chicken and cheese and smoked bacon on top. The portion was great. We went to Walmart afterwards to get some stuff for plants and I felt full for hours lol I was in Walmart feeling like I ate too much, almost lol
The complimentary rolls were really great. They had the exact right amount of salt and had a super soft texture. The chicken was perfect too.
My meal had two sides. I believe one was broccoli, but don't quote me on that, and the other was mac n cheese. The other side was just a vegetable, but done the same way I would've done at home, but better. The mac n cheese was okay. I'm italian, so I just thought the pasta had been cooked for too long, but I acted like it was perfect lol The flavor was great though, just the macaroni were just very soft, which is fine for mac n' cheese. (Popeye's mac is better, but somehow greasy lol)
My professor had the red beans n' rice, because he has not had it in forever, and he kept talking about how great it was... I probably would've gotten that too, except I didn't want to copy his order lol
He also talked about how great their rotisserie chicken was, before we went. It's why he wanted to go there.
Anyways, he had nothing, but praise, for that chicken and by the looks of his plate, the chicken was tender and came off the bone perfectly. I imagine it was infused with that hickory smoked flavor. He also had a salad, but didn't talk much about it, but it looked very nice. I think that was only because you are just literally eating a plant raw, so it always tastes pretty much the same lol 😆
The prices were in the range of about $15 - $20 per person, I would say... There are cheaper options and there are wayyyyy more expensive options if you want to go with some fancy steaks or whatnot. I did not try that, because it was on someone else's dime, but I bet they would be great.
All in all, the meal was awesome, the service was stupendous, and the atmosphere was beautiful. I would say this is a great place to go, if you want to have a comfortable, but upscale,...
Read moreI visited your establishment for the very first time on Saturday 9/17/22 at the suggestion of a family who wanted to treat me out for my birthday. We both like carrot cake and she thought I might like to try yours at Hickory Falls. I don't typically dine out in the Smyrna area, but I didn't want to have her doing too driving due to all the of traffic delays this past weekend. Our server was very pleasant & friendly. Sadly the cedar plank salmon was very disappointing. Due to the fact that it was actually just Grilled salmon with a hint of bourbon sauce cooked on top of the grill then just placed & served on top of a cedar plank. Absolutely no Cedar Flavor whatsoever. I brought home my leftovers to refrigerate, all while transferring to storage container, I realized the cedar plank itself had no signs of being heated, just a plain smooth clear light yellow piece of cedar (it appealed unused). I called the restaurant this afternoon asked for a manager to share my concern. The young lady who answered, identified herself as the manager named Mandy. She told me that "they are a locally owned company that have been in business for 16 years (she's worked there for 10 yrs), and we don't advertise on our menu that we cook our salmon on the cedar plank. We grill it and place it on the cedar plank and then put it in the hickory oven for a few seconds before serving. This member of management showed no regard to the concern that I had with my meal mainly the salmon. She offered no courtesy or suggestions on had to satisfy the matter, just told me I could call back on Wednesday to speak with the G.M. Meredith who comes in after 4p.m. I was disappointed at her tone, level of customer care and overall attitude. So I asked to leave a message or note for the G.M. and have her call me on Wednesday. She then stated "that they don't do that, I can just call back and speak with her on Wednesday.". I explained to Mandy that I didn't want to make an issue while dining because I didn't want to spoil the mood of her wanting to take me out to a celebration dinner, which we haven't had the opportunity to due over the past few years. The carrot cake was not at all what I expected. It was way too rich, cake tasted poked throughout and filled with hot simple syrup, which I'm guessing in return makes the layer of cream cheese icing melt. F.Y.I. this dessert is a diabetic coma waiting to happen. Overall very disappointed at how the Manager seemingly dismissed my concerns over the phone. This is a very poor display of...
Read moreWe stopped by this American "Hickory Falls" Restaurant in Tennessee on our road trip from Iowa to Florida, and it turned out to be one of the highlights of our journey. The restaurant had a welcoming ambiance cozy yet lively with a warm, rustic interior that made us feel instantly comfortable. The location was easy to find, and there's ample parking space, which was definitely a plus after a long drive.
We ordered the Rattlesnake Chicken Pasta served with herb garlic bread, and the Maui Chicken with grilled asparagus. Both dishes were absolutely delicious! The Rattlesnake Pasta had the perfect balance of spice and creaminess, and the garlic bread was fresh, buttery, and flavorful. The Maui Chicken was tender, beautifully grilled, and paired wonderfully with the asparagus, which was cooked just right crisp yet tender.
For drinks, I tried their signature “Falls” Margarita and my wife had Pomegranatini from their special cocktail list. Both were exceptionally well made , the margarita was refreshing with just the right kick, and the pomegranatini was smooth, slightly sweet, and incredibly well-balanced.
The staff was friendly, attentive, and made sure we were comfortable throughout our meal. Service was quick, and everything from presentation to portion size was on point.
Overall, Hickory Falls offered an excellent dining experience. Great food, well-crafted drinks, a pleasant atmosphere, and courteous service definitely a place we’d recommend to anyone passing through the area or looking for a solid meal in Tennessee. Would love to stop by again on our...
