MY visit at your location on 4/30/24 in Ladson, SC. My family of 8 visited your restaurant and I was very disgusted by the lady who greets customers as they first walked in. The light skinned female with a very low males like hair cut was very rude. She did not speak so i had to tell her we are a table for 8. Upon her gathering high chairs and trying to arrange our eating section she kept making all these disrespectful facial expression toward us, mumbling under her breath like we inconvenienced her day! My 4year old and my 1 year old twin boys had just woken up FROM a nap and were a tad loud like babies usually do. She seated us gave us no menus nor took our drink orders. She then sat down 2 more tables of people giving them menus and taking a drink order before she went back upfront to take a seat at her booth by the door. She then at one point walked behind us to the bar and asked chy or shi however it's spelled which she was our server did she want anymore kids?. My brother whom is a Dorchester police officer picked up on the rude comment made by her giving us the impression that she wasn't too happy about my table with my kids. Or may not have kids or be kid experienced by her body languange and actions.That whole lunch meeting was very uncomfortable especially after driving from Hampton SC, whicn is a little over 1& 1/2 hour drive. Her comments about kids were very inappropriate and my mother and husband asked me to just not say anything to her because it seems as she was having a bad day. Even after they saw how bad i was upset about her loudly rude comments.She needs to know her actions were very unprofessional and comments about people's KIDS are absolutely a no no! Everyone's will not tolerate her speaking on or about their kids in the manner she did because the situation could've very easily escalated and it would have been her fault for being nasty& unprofessional, Making smart remarks and facial expression at strangers. And she needs to conduct herself in a better manner in a work setting even if she was annoyed of the whining and crying of my 4 kids which are 4,1,1, and 6 months old which we had under control once they received their food. I called to speak to you in person to notify you of the incident but I was told to email my complaints and or concerns to you. Which you never attempted to respond to an email or the contact information that was provided through email since may 30,2024 with it now being august 2024.The actions of your door greeter Makes me not want to ever return to your establishment & the fact that i was told to email you about concerns and you never reached out tells it all.I was very respectful and nice and patient that day. Even when she tried to be funny about making comments and smart remarks on My kids I could've turn your establishment inside out and would not have cared. Read moreThe food was good, but the service was abysmal. We arrived at 5:25-ish. There was a family of three seated, and one guy came in with us. No other customers at that time. The board at the front sa8d they were out of mac and cheese, lima beans, turkey legs, something else, and corn. Our server, I think her name was Alexis, brought our drinks (without ice) and took our orders within minutes of our arrival. We asked for a cup of ice and she brought it right out. Then, at 6:03, she came back to our table and asked us what our orders were. She said "nothing's wrong, I just wanted to be sure". THEN she got help from one of the kitchen guys with putting in the orders. A few minutes later, I asked her if our orders had just gone in. She lied, saying "no, the kitchen has the order. The food is coming up now." Another 10-11 minutes went by. She brought my meal, put it in front of my husband and walked away. She went to the bar and played on her phone, and played around with the order system. Several other people had been seated after us and their food was coming out promptly. Ten minutes after my meal came, I saw a meal on the counter and thought it might be my husband's. She was busy looking at her phone. After a couple minutes, my husband got up and walked to the counter, attracting her attention. She reached for the meal, but he took it and brought it to the table himself. Again, the food was good. The portions were double what we could eat. She did check on us. I asked her again if she had put our order in late, and she, once again, lied to my face. We asked for the bill and left her a generous 10% tip, because we won't stiff anyone, even if they were awful. She was arguing with another customer about their meal when we were leaving. Read moreI’m writing this review to share my recent and very unfortunate experience at this restaurant. I ordered the stewed chicken, and when the food arrived, the chicken was unusually white in color. I asked the server about it, and she told me that’s how it normally looks. I mentioned that I’ve never seen stew chicken look that way before, but she reassured me that this was their standard preparation. Trusting her explanation, my daughter and I went ahead and ate the meal.
A few hours later, we both became sick. I tried calling the restaurant several times that evening, the next morning, and again in the afternoon, but no one ever answered the phone. I finally drove to the restaurant to let them know what happened. The staff said they would need to contact the owner regarding a refund, and when I spoke with him over the phone, he was extremely rude, unprofessional, and dismissive. His attitude and tone were disrespectful, and he made it clear that he didn’t care about my concerns, my review, or even if I reported the issue to the food safety administration.
This was not my first less-than-satisfactory experience at this restaurant, but I had continued to support them, hoping things would improve. Unfortunately, this experience has completely changed my mind. The food made us sick, the restaurant was not very clean, and while the staff was friendly, the owner’s behavior was unacceptable. I will not be returning, and I encourage others to be cautious and think twice before dining here.
