Update We were back in Tahoe and were sure to come here again. Menu has changed a little since they opened New Primo. It we were still able to get her our favorite chicken parm so make sure you ask. We got the Insalata salad wand subbed the fig vinaigrette and OMG, absolutely delicious. Unfortunately the calzone was a huge disappointment. Says you get three items but we were charged for one of the three and my sister ordered double pepperoni and hardly had any. She should have spoke up as I’m confident they would have fixed it at the time. Everything else was delicious. First visit review Service by Lauren was fantastic. We will be back every time we come to Tahoe. We will probably be back before we leave lol. The baby iceberg salad is one of the Best salads we have had. The flavors of each ingredient was amazing. We also asked for a side of honey fig vinaigrette and that dressing is also amazing. The garlic toast was also delicious and their marinara is great. The chicken park was delicious but the fettuccini Alfredo I got as a side was the best I’ve ever had. The noodles were thin and amazing and the flavor of the Alfredo was fantastic. Rigatoni with vodka sauce was one of the best my husband has ever had. It was a little smaller rigatoni than we are used to but just shows the homemade uniqueness that makes this place so special. The bread is so fresh and delicious as well. We really appreciated the agave straw as well compared to the forced paper straws in most of California. Their pastas, sauces, bread everything are made from scratch and this place blew us away. It’s a must. We came around 4 and by the time we left it was getting busy so enjoy and early dinner to avoid the rush.

I cannot say enough nice things about Primo's food, staff, and owner, Jim. I was desperately throwing together a dinner party to follow my daughter's July 25th wedding for 15 of us and didn't want to spend thousands renting a venue and feeding everyone. I was able to communicate everything via email with Jim, who offered the use of the private patio for our tiny reception. He even met with us the day before to go over set-up and allowed us to store our little cakes in their fridge! The staff were all very kind and professional and made us feel so welcomed! They let us spend a few hours there, never making us feel rushed, and I swear they had ESP because they knew when we were ready for the next course before we ever had to say anything. The food was also amazing! I am not usually a fettuccine eater but theirs was so good I asked for another plate! And I LOVED the chicken picatta! If you are ever looking for a good place to stop in for some delicious Italian food, or need to carb load before that big hike, or looking for a pretty place to hold a tiny wedding/graduation/celebration dinner, then look no further than Primo's! Thank you, Jim and staff, for helping make my daughter's wedding day extra special!

Delicious, authentic rustic Italian! Home-made pasta, cheeses, and aged prosciutto is appreciated. Mike’s a real pleasure as a waiter. All of our dishes were flavorful and plentiful. Shared the rock shrimp appetizer, unique; the iceberg salad, very shareable size; lasagna, generous portion, rich and meaty with great balance of flavors (a little less sauce); seafood pasta, again generous size, spicy, best ever; finished with the almond torte. Large wine selection, many wine bottle prices are quite reasonable. My only con is to make an investment in the visual and comfortable-ness of the space which is lacking in matching the wonderful-ness of the food. Atmosphere is okay, could be polished up a bit to be more authentic rustic, warm, inviting and comfortable, a put off initially, very American shoestring “vanilla bistro concept” but the food makes up for what is missed in the visual experience. Train your busser to be prepared for a question. It’s in a strip mall so tucked away off the street which is a bonus for some quiet patio dining. Prices are very reasonable for quality of food. Not to be missed Italian in Lake Tahoe.

I hate leaving reviews like this. But honestly I am so shocked by tonight that I have to say something.

My husband and I came in at about 5:30pm tonight to get a to-go order for our family. Although there were multiple employees milling about, we weren’t even greeted for a couple of minutes. I double checked the business hours on the door and confirm that indeed they are fully open. Confused, we wandered deeper into the almost empty restaurant looking for someone to help us.

At last a young lady found us.. Her: Hi can I help you? Us: We’d like to place an order to go. Her: oh ok, please hold on

A young man walked up a few seconds later.. Him: Hi can I help you? Us: yes please, we would like to place an order to go. Him: ok, let me go see if we can do that. Us: 😳

He returns a couple moments later with Lucas the bartender, who seemed flustered or perhaps annoyed.

Lucas: What can I get you? Us: ask a couple of quick questions, and then begin to place our order Lucas: (interrupting us on our third entree) I’m sorry, how many orders is this going to be? Us: four. Lucas: oh. Hang on. I have to ask the kitchen if they can do that. I only asked if they could do an order for two. Us: 😳

He comes back from asking the kitchen, and says it’s ok. We finish placing our very simple order. He quotes us 30-35 minutes, we depart and wait in the parking lot.

Upon returning to the restaurant, there were still a few minutes left on our quoted time, so we asked to pay our bill in hopes that would speed something up or at least simplify the process.

We pay, stand around in the bar area for several more minutes, and eventually get our food. (Nobody offered us a beer or glass of wine while we waited, which was also odd to us.) We ask if there is bread included, and Lucas states that yes “I gave you two because there were four entrees.” We thank him and go.

Getting home, we open our containers. The portions are tiny. I mean, tiny. For example, the radiatore that cost $16 was literally ten pieces of small pasta with a light sauce. Chicken piccata and parmesans ($21 each) that we ordered only had one chicken breast each, the largest of which was approximately the size of my hand (and I am not large). The piccata noodles were all stuck together, and I had asked for extra sauce. There was almost no sauce, and almost no flavor except from the capers. Oh, and the “two breads” were each the size of a credit card - in my opinion barely enough for one person let alone four.

I am borderline disgusted. For almost $100, my family is all still hungry. And the staff wasn’t very friendly. Everyone we encountered seemed pretty irritated that we even existed.

Having worked in restaurants as much as my husband and I have, we thought that the management staff would like to know what’s going on there. I won’t...

I confirmed two days before the reservation via phone. However, when I called the day of the reservation they said I had canceled it but that was not the case. When I called the other day to confirm I had asked for them to accommodate 20 instead of 18, to which they said no problem.

Luckily, when I spoke to whomever on the phone the day of the reservation, they said they still had room for 20. We ended up only having a party of 18 show for the dinner.

When we arrived they did not have to set menus as planned. (They do set menus for party’s bigger than 15) I spoke with the manager Lucas and he said they could do the $40 set menu plan but some things were unavailable. (The “set menu” was practically nothing like the ones they emailed me the days prior) At that point my party was hungry and we had no other reservations so I agreed with Lucas. To my knowledge everyone was getting their own dishes but they did it family style. I’m guessing because of the amount food? I’m not sure. Must I say the bartender and servers were very good at their jobs. It seemed like they were doing they’re best to accommodate us…. The food was not all that good and we were over it by then. Then came time to pay and I spoke with Lucas and asked about the prices since the food was served family style to which he said it would still be $40 dollars a person. Seemed like a rip off to us. I asked about the 2 children and 2 teenagers we had with us and Lucas agreed to not charge the children, meaning they would eat for free, and then charge the two teenagers $25 a person. When it came time to pay, we were charged for 19 people at $40 a person and then charged us an extra $25 for a child. Thus meaning we were charged for 20 people. For one, we did not have that many guests and for two, I had an agreement with the manager Lucas. I did not find this out until the next morning from the groom of our party. My bride and groom were very upset, as so was I.

I emailed one of the other managers Jim about the whole ordeal the day after the dinner and he replied back stating he would talk with his staff and then reach out to me..not even offer atleast a refund for the over charge of guests. On top of that, he never even got back to me !! I’m still awaiting his response.. almost a month later!! In conclusion, FAIR WARNING!!!! Do not eat at this restaurant if you have a larger party of guests or party expect high...

First time there. Really nice staff. The atmosphere was very charming. I ordered fettuccine and chicken. It took a while for our apatizers. Took a while stuff mushrooms. The mushrooms were big but what they used to fill it made is really runnie it did taste ok. I ask for a ceazor salad small and all I got was lettuce and crutons and dressing that tast like goat cheese. My friend ordered raviloies they barried his ravoies in hot spicy tomatoes and peppers. They mist of used all the tomatoes on his dish cause i didn't get a one. He was very disappointed. My chicken fettuccine was ok two very large thick pieces of chicken not alot of sauce which made the noodles stick together like a lump. Chicken was juiceie tasted like it was steamed in a salt water bath. This dish would of been ok but they over salted the whole dish. So I ate half ask my friend to tast it to make sure I was tasting right and gave the other thalf to my dogs no complaint from them. The minue pricing was way different then what was on the receipt. Considering they had to more all of there customers out side 6 feet apart it was nice out side with the shade they made and the lighting. Even when a car drove around in cycles screaming the food sucks no one really payed much attention to the kids yelling out the window. Im from the city and if that all the disturbance they get they are lucky. The bathrooms were clean. So if you go there ask for no salt you can add to your own tast . And make sure you want what ever they put on the raviloies. Make sure you ask if they pricing is correct on the minue. To what your going to be charge. We didn't have lots time to make a fuss so we paid it used the restroom took my dogs out for there pottie breake and left. I give only a 2 star because the staff and atmosphere was really nice. Food needs work. As to weather we will be back not sure .there are many open with out side dining in this town so we might try a few others. We were on a test drive for my car to see if the car shop fix what was wrong with the car. So who knows if we will be in the...
