This place starts off bad with the waitress doing nothing at the counter when I came in and tells me to get my own silverware off the podium and go to the buffet. So on her way by she drops off my bill and I hadn’t even sat down to eat. So then the food at the buffet is disgusting the eggs were very wet, the French toast and French toast sticks were very dry and hard. So I decide to try the grits and it was a big mistake. The biscuits looked ok but were doughy in the middle. I finally get a cup of coffee from this waitress and needed a refill so I said put it in a Togo cup so I can leave. She continues to go over and clean tables and says once I get these tables cleaned. So I’m waiting and then she sees people headed to the register and says I need to check out these people first so I’m waiting again. Finally she’s going to get my coffee and pours the very end of the pot into the cup and I see her topping it off with water. So I said why did you fill it with water. She denies it and says she was cleaning the cup. I said I saw you do it. So I say get the manager and she says she manages the front I said you’re the manager and she wouldn’t answer so I asked again and she says I’ll get your coffee. I said get the manager too. She goes into the back and comes out with the coffee and no manager. Finally she gets the manager and I start telling the manager what I experienced and all of a sudden the waitress won’t leave the table so I said you didn’t want any parts of me earlier so you can go now. So she’s circling the table trying to listen in. The manager was nice and adjusted my bill but it wasn’t nearly enough considering the bad service and bad food they had. This was the worst waitress I’ve ever encountered in my life. I don’t know why she still has...
Read moreMy husband and I stopped here for a late lunch/ early dinner 2:45 on a Monday (Columba’s day) there was a sign on the door that said closing at 4 today. Should have turned around and walked away at that. We were seated by who I’m assuming was a cook or someone from the back. He didn’t bring menus at first. Being our first time ever to a Shoney’s we were unsure of what they had. Ended up deciding on the buffet. Oh boy was that a mistake! The ranch dressing was bitter. The green olives were gray instead of green. I got saltine crackers for my broccoli soup and they were stale. (The soup was the only decent tasting thing I had). The strawberry sauce stuff for on the little round cake was sour. The potato wedges tasted like used cooking oil. The ribs were rubbery and hard to eat. My husband had the fried chicken which he said had no taste. He had a burger and a bun (that was in a baggie on the buffet)the bun was stale. Over all the food was not good. When we went to check out the computer system had crashed. The owner or manager came out and attempted to use his square for us to pay since the computers were down but it was for iPhone and he had an android. We scraped together cash between my husband and I to pay the $36 bill for our terrible food and headed home. Before getting half way into our hour drive home we were both sick to our stomach. This will be the first and only time I will ever eat at this Shoney’s not sure if I will try a different location as I’m not sure there are any close to me. The evening waitress came in while we were checking out and apparently found out they were closing at 4 when she arrived for...
Read moreSeafood night... Ugh. The parking lot was empty when we pulled in around 4:45 so we thought the place was closed. That should have been a red flag. We were greeted by our waitress and she let us choose our own table. They were all empty except for an older woman who was dining alone. The waitress brought our drinks quickly, and was almost overly attentive during our meal. She talked about very personal things, (like her marriages and miscarriages) and then actually informed us that she makes $2 an hour and relies on tips. All the fish was overcooked, dry, or rubbery. The fried butterfly shrimp were flat as a piece of paper and looked so hard that we didn't even try them. The Mac n cheese was getting hard around the edges, like it had been sitting there for hours. We didn't try the mashed potatoes because it looked like the staff added water into them and stirred them up because they were drying out. I was looking forward to having some potato or macaroni salad, but the macaroni salad looked like it was losing it's color, telling me it was old. I tried the seafood salad, which wasn't bad, but didn't have that much flavor. The best part of the meal was probably dessert... Shortcakes from a package and strawberry pie filling from a can. With a $5 tip, this meal for the two of us was almost $50! First time/last...
