I am so excited to share our experience because everyone needs to eat here!! First, the reason I'm not providing five stars is because they are still using paper plates, plastic cutlery, and so forth. But there is a bonus I'll mention at the end related to this matter.
We enjoyed a starter of fried cheese. This is not fried cheese like Americans think of when you say "fried cheese". It is cooked with bell peppers and other items in a chilli sauce - and not a chilli sauce like amercan chilli. Ask for basmati rice with it because the combination is out of this world! Be advised, mild is still fairly warm, medium is hot, and hot will blow your mind.
I should say that when we were seated, we were immediately provided with bottled water. It was refreshing to get a bottle of water instead of tap water. You have an option to get sodas, etc., but this was a great touch.
My husband loves lamb and these people not only have a great source for fresh, mild lamb, but prepare it magnificently. He initially requested lamb marsala but opted for lamb curry, which was amazing!
I had butter chicken. Okay, it sounds odd but it is nothing like what it sounds. It is chicken in a yogurt sauce. We both opted for mild because of what I stated above. The butter chicken is something that will make yours eyes roll back in your head. YUM!!! Again, serve both dishes with basmati rice, but do NOT miss the Naan bread, which is clearly made on site.
This is the kicker: These people understand service. They consulted with us throughout the ordering process, asking questions, ensuring we had an amazing dining experience. They were always nearby, but not hovering.
Finally, the food was served in plastic containers, so we could simply put lids on the items we didn't finish to take home. This is a covid precaution they are taking. Overall, this is a fantastic place, one my hubby and I will...
Read moreWeekday lunch buffet is supposed to start at 11am. A few of us (colleagues) arrived at noon and some items were still being prepared. For a vegan, the only options were aloo-baigan (which was bland), baby-corn manchurian (which was quite good) and jeera rice (which came a few minutes after noon)! Two other veggie items were a paneer appetizer and paneer tikka masala (or similar). The gravy in the paneer entree was a little sweet (not sure if it's prepared on-site or dumped from a bottle). If you are a meat-eater, there are a few more choices in appetizer and main course. I would recommend to the owner to add a few more items for vegetarians (e.g. one more vegan curry and dal).
The hostess/waitress was very friendly and courteous. However, she could communicate a little better. Naan was supposed to be provided to us (as part of the buffet) and she noted down the preferences from each of us. After around 20 minutes, she comes back to inform us that the tandoor isn't working and naan won't be available. She offered to replace it with chapathi which we were fine with. The problem is that they were simply packaged chapatis heated up.
With all the issues that we faced, she took off the price of one buffet (out of 5). When we went to pay, the credit card machine was broken. We had to either pay by cash or Zelle money to a gmail address!
Renovations were going on. We saw only one other family come in. I hope the place improves for lunch because a lot of Desis live/work...
Read moreMy experience, I arrived around 1 pm with my family. Upon entering the restaurant the indian man at the counter was assisting a customer. So I waited. I waited........... until I realized he was going to completely pass me up and assist the customer who obviously came after me. I sat my family down at a table knowing that no one was going to seat us. Eventually someone came from the back and asked us what we wanted to drink. As most indian buffets there was the usual dishes. In my opinion the only thing worth eating was the chicken 65 and the the fish. Most of the curries tasted like they came straight out of a Shan masala packet and it was way too spicy for my kids. It took them a long time to bring us our water. I literally had to stare down the oblivious staff to finally get some water for my kids. This restaurant is so mismanaged I don’t know how they can survive the rent in South Lake for too long. The staff don’t seem to care about the customers enjoyment at all. They look like they’re working for $12 dollars an hour and they’re saving up for their IT/engineering degree on the weekends. Please save your money for another restaurant that actually cares about the food and their customers. Save your curry desire for another...
