My wife and I were in Matthews, I was really hungry, and my wife wanted a good sandwich, so we stopped by.
I was initially excited because they had cheesesteaks and hoagies on the menu and I eat them irresponsibly when I am in Philly/Jersey.
I got the "SouthSide" and my wife got the Turkey and ham sandwich. I got pasta salad and fries as sides. My wife liked her sandwich, she loved the vinegar and oil. I was not the biggest fan of the SouthSide until I dipped it in the Steaksauce. I was disappointed in the amount of meat, I felt like they skimped on the meat, I guess you can order double meat. But for $15 I expected more.
The fries were the best thing I ordered, they were hot and crisp, good flavor. I really enjoy a good pasta salad and eas disappointed with this one. I had to download the app to get the banana pudding for a dollar I was disappointed. It wasn't thick, the flavor was a little off to me.
My wife ate her whole sandwich I finished the fries, but I threw away the banana pudding and the pasta salad, and about half of my sandwich. My stomach felt a little weird after eating it, could have been all the different types of food.
The young lady behind the counter was super friendly, very honest and helpful, I appreciated her patience and kindness. She did an excellent job.
All in all, I wish I got the fish sandwich, it looked and smelled so good! I was disappointed in my experience, maybe because I already had a certain taste in mind for the foods I ordered and when they were not it I was frustrated.
I would...
Read more“It’s a cheese steak ma’am” says the guy answering the phone when I called to place a to go order. I’ve eaten there before but couldn’t remember what was on one of the sandwich’s when I asked he told me “it’s a cheese steak ma’am” as if there is only one and no variation to the cheese steaks they serve. He followed up with “you can find the menu online” then he says what the cheese steak has on it. In the time it took to be rude to a customer who planned to place a large order over the phone he could have answered the question. I was met with a person who clearly has no regard delivering a good customer experience or being a professional at work. If I were the owner I would get someone more pleasant and patient to answer the phone. Or maybe he was the owner. Either way be sure to look up the menu before calling to place a to go order. God forbid if you need some assistance from one of the employees. Because after all “it’s a cheese steak ma’am” nothing special! People will always remember how you made them feel. Needless to say I won’t be supporting a restaurant with rude employees and poor...
Read moreAfter giving this establishment not one, not two, but three attempts to prove itself I have been left $50 poorer and disgruntled. To charge $16 for a sandwich of their quality is asinine. I started with the black and blue hoagie which was really disappointing because it had absolutely ZERO flavor just tasted kind of gross, I tossed the second half. Next, I got the South Street Hoagie which once again had zero flavor just with a ** ton of A1 steak sauce overwhelming you. I decided to go back and give them one last attempt for redemption and offered a regular Philly cheesesteak. SURELY they couldn’t mess that up too. Well they did. It had no flavor, was dry, and again I just threw it out.
To anyone who is thinking of going here, just save your money and get something else. Steak and Hoagie’s name is ironic because their Hoagies absolutely suck. I will not give them any further business until they...
