Fruits & Roots — Restaurant in Stuart

This used to be a great place to get delicious consistent vegan food in an area with not a lot of options. Since changing ownership, everything has gone down hill so badly that I don’t even see a reason to ever come back. They have changed nearly everything on the menu, taking away great items in favor of what I assume is more cost effective alternatives. While sacrificing taste at the same time. A sandwich used to come with nice blue corn chips with a Parmesan crumble on top. Now you’re telling me I have to pay a $1 for basic cheap white corn chips with no garnish? They held off changing the grilled cheese for a while, but on my most recent visit it was different. Almost no cheese and they’ve added a mayo/aioli that changes the whole flavor. And now I’m barely choking down this new Mac and cheese. I used to devour the Mac, but the new sauce is not good. I used to get the pesto breadsticks every time, but they removed them from the menu. Maybe when you have a long time manager who leaves because of how bad new ownership is doing things, you should reflect on if it’s worth doing what you’re doing. Also the woman on the phone didn’t let me know any of the up charges when I was ordering, just bad practices all around.

Let me share with you the most delightful Vegan Café and Juice Bar that I literally just happen to stumble across, Fruits and Roots in Stuart Florida located across the street from the Colorado Shopping Plaza.

While waiting for my mom at her doctor’s appointment I was looking for a place to pick up something to eat and noticed this nice green colored building with outdoor seating that said Juice Bar and Vegan Café.

Well, this was “right up my alley” and went inside. The whole place is light and bright with corner to corner windows and plenty of seating. There is a chalk board on the wall that let’s patrons know that all food is made to order and fresh. Also listed is their “Specials” of the day.

The cashier was such a joy to talk and between the Menu Items, Specials of the Day and Soup of the Day, I wanted to try them all. I got the Tuna Chick Wrap and Sunflower Curry Soup and was so impressed on how delicious they both were.

All I could think about it, there should be a location like this in Fort Lauderdale as this is where I live, I was just visiting mom in Stuart. On the way out I also bought Spicy Pumpkin Seeds.

Fruits and Roots is an absolute Gem of a place and I hope they expand into South Florida, just cant say enough...

Ordered an acai bowl and they gave it to me to go even though I was sitting in. The bowl had hardly anything in it as far as fruit! Pure frozen acai berry with hardly any almond butter for an extra $3. I stated the guy next to me had way more fruit and was told you hardly get anything in it when it's to go! Well I wanted it there and they should have fixed their mistake, but the girl at register did not do anything to fix it. I drove 40 minutes to try their bowl and wont be back just based on customer service experience alone.

In response to your reply you should know that your hostess was not honest with you. I asked for a menu because I had never been to your establishment. I told her I was going to eat there instead immediately after I ordered then she apologized for it being in a to go cup after it was made. I would not place a to go order from a place I've never been and not know what was on the menu, think about it. Thank you for your response and when I did bring it up she said sorry and turned away.

I bet your caller ID does not have an 865 area code on it from earlier this afternoon, which is the area code to my only phone. I'm just saying she should be more honest in regards to me calling it...
