Was really excited to visit this new place in Sunnyvale but I'm deeply disappointed with my visit.. Ambience is very good with pleasant interiors, hygienic and tidy, friendly staff...
Coming to the menu we ordered the below items.. Every item is accompanied by 3 types of chutneys (Coconut, Ginger, I have no clue what was the yellow chutney). The quantity of the chutney is very less, however they'll serve more if asked(To avoid wastage is what they said which is fair). Mysore Bonda - Looked and tasted more like Punugulu with some chat masala sprinkled on it and nothing close to Mysore Bonda, I wonder how punugulu looks like here.. Andhra Mirchi Bajji - Taste was average. I'd be happy had they added onions to it . Coffee - Decent. Ghee Roast Idli - I was shocked when a plain soft Idli with some Ghee on top was served to me which they claim to be "GHEE ROAST". When asked about it they took it back and fried a little and got it. The taste was bland, even after having with Sambar and chutney. And talking about the Sambar, it's watery. When asked about it they claim it to be FUSION of Udupi and Karnataka (I am a South Indian and the Sambar nowhere looked/tasted like Udupi style). Shahi Makhni Dosa and Spring Role Dosa - Average.
Finally talking about the bill. There is a coupon on their Instagram page (20% on total bill above $40 valid until June 30) when claimed they said it's only valid from 4th May (Nowhere mentioned on the coupon or their Instagram post).
NEVER COMING BACK, UNWORTHY PLACE, BELOW...
Read moreI wanted to try the new Bawarchi since I heard it recently opened. I finally had the chance to order from there for my son's birthday, using Uber Eats for a pickup order. We ordered two Hyderabadi Veg Biryanis, two Gongura Veg Biryanis, Gobi Manchurian, and Chilli Chicken. However, when we opened the package at home, we found eggs in the biryani. Initially, we optimistically assumed it was part of the Hyderabadi Veg Biryani, but it turned out they were actually Hyderabadi Chicken Biryanis. How could such a mistake happen? Fortunately, we had non-vegetarian guests, but this could have been a serious issue if it had gone to a vegetarian household.
As for the taste, the Gongura Veg Biryani was just okay; it lacked a strong Gongura flavor and was on the spicier side, so it could be skipped. The Gobi Manchurian was also standard. Ironically, the Hyderabadi Chicken Biryani was the standout dish—it was very flavorful and delicious. The Chilli Chicken is definitely a must-order. We took advantage of the Buy 1 Get 1 offer for the biryanis on Uber Eats. I hope they improve their accuracy with orders, as it’s frustrating when restaurants overlook their to-go requests. I saw multiple other incorrect order complaints in the reviews. Hope it’s...
Read moreBeing a native of udupi, we were excited to try out this place, to start with, felt the place was very calm and not crowded compared to neighbouring chaat Bhavan restaurant. Ambience was pretty good as well given the place is not huge. The restaurant had ample parking space.
We tried south indian thali for lunch, felt the taste was not authentic and more of a fusion mixed with andra style. Food was served fresh and hot but took a while! Few things could be improved on the thali like chapathi which was overcooked with lot of oil, including udupi lunch menu items like pallya and kosambari and including more veggies into sambhar and making it more authentic than fusion. I wouldn't expect channa masala or basmati rice on a South Indian Thali.
Overall, Felt it was more of a fusion of South Indian food and not specifically Udupi style. Full points to the friendly staff who constantly asked if everything was good. The restaurant owner also greeted us and asked for feedback. I would try appetizers next time along with breakfast items since they seemed more interesting on the menu compared to Thali! Overall I would rate it 3/5 considering the price, quality,...
