In short, the food was good at times and lackluster at others, but the service unfortunately left a bit to be desired.
The tortilla chips served throughout the meal were all stale. Additionally, when ordering chicharrones, I don’t think it’s unfair to say that one would expect, you know...chicharrones. Instead, we were served store-bought style pork rinds with some red seasoning on top. It was a bit of a letdown and, although I don’t think it will bring any change, I feel the business should either change the name of that particular menu item or offer a more “authentic” version of the dish in line with the rest of their offerings.
The entrees we tried were all pretty tasty and served warm (In particular, we had the steak burrito, grilled shrimp + vegetables, and portobello mushroom tacos). I think that all the food was good, but I don’t know that it was a wholly authentic experience. To be fair, I don’t know if that’s necessarily the aim and/or goal of this restaurant, but it’s a great spot to go if you’re looking to sample a variety of mixed drinks and cocktails. I don’t drink myself, so I can’t comment on that. If I were a drinker, I may very have well rated Miguelitos higher.
I will say that the staff was courteous, although our server kept forgetting to grab refills on drinks and we only saw her sparingly. If I’m being honest, it seemed she just was not on the ball as a whole this particular evening. If not for the uneven/inattentive service from waitstaff on the night we went, I think I would say that this establishment merits at least 3 stars regardless of my personal preferences.
I would still say that, despite my review, maybe you ought to try this restaurant for yourself; although, I don’t believe I would personally come back based on...
Read moreThis was my second time to this restaurant. I don't give out 1 star ratings unless it's well deserved. This restaurant gets 2 stars. 1 star is for the ambience and the other star is because I believe they have potential. The parking at this restaurant is minimal because of the position of the building off of Kennedy Blvd. If they are busy then you will have to park on the street behind the building. The restaurant inside is welcoming. There is a large bar with ample seating during most times. Adequate table seating both inside and outside which is a good option to have at a restaurant. I usually sit at the bar as I did this time. I thought the bartenders were slow initially with taking my drink order and even slower making it. There weren't many ppl there. The drinks wasn't great as it seem to lack tequila. My initial food order was not made properly however they quickly realized and corrected without me having to say something. The food was fresh but the taste was very bland. I never had Mexican food that lacked seasoning. I thought I would not see a repeat of my first experience but it was exactly the same. I think this restaurant can reach 4 stars but it will take a little work.... like attentive bartenders and seasoning their food. There is a mexican restaurant up the street from this location that checks all the boxes. They are a good alternative. Unfortunately I can't recommend Miguelitos...
Read moreNice place but not my cup of tea.
At first blush the exterior of Miguelitos at night is great. Their brand shines through with a great logo and light display. Parking is a bit limited but offers on street parking options.
Overall service was okay. The room lacked an upbeat, Friday night feel we were hoping for. The bar top is great and the music was there but the energy in the room wasn't.
Food was unfortunately a big miss. Nothing we ordered wowed us. Miguelito offers very traditional Mexican options but what was missing for me was the brightness in the food. It didn't taste fresh herbs or ingredients. Everything was pretty okay. We ordered the Salsa Veracruz, and Street Corn for starters. I ordered a Pork Belly taco and a Filet Mignon taco. One plate that did deliver was the pork belly taco, very yummy.
Drink options were plentiful. I went with the Gaspar Jalisco. Tasty little drink. Emphasis on little. For me the drinks were overpriced for the portion served.
Miguelitos offers an outdoor/indoor area that wasn't used while we were there but it looked like a great place to hold events while enjoying Florida's great weather.
Overall an okay experience but not what we were expecting from the vibes we saw on their socials. Maybe we got there too early on a Friday (730-9pm)? Either way, the food could use some love with fresher...
