ABSOLUTELY TERRIBLE! WILL NEVER GET ANOTHER DOLLAR FROM MY FAMILY!!
If I could give them negative stars I would!!! My mom and I went in to order pans of sandwiches for an event and were denied service. The website states they close at 10pm, my mom has always known them to close at 8pm, we arrived at exactly 6:50pm. They had one typed up sign posted saying they closed at 7pm that particular day YET when we walked in the door wasn’t locked and they weren’t turning customers away. There were at least 7 people ahead of us and one came in after us. After standing in line for at least five minutes the cashier began rudely yelling that she wasn’t taking anymore orders. She claimed at 6:45 she let the people in line know that she wasn’t taking anymore orders YET AGAIN their door WAS NOT locked and they DID NOT turn away anyone that walked in. At 7:00pm the person at the window is the last order she took and then continued to rudely yell they were closed and she wasn’t taking anymore orders. Again the four of us left in the line had all arrived before 7:00pm, if we’re inside the establishment before the closing time and we weren’t turned away when we walked in how are you refusing to service us??? My mom asked since we technically arrived before their closing time if she could at least place our order that we needed for the upcoming Saturday and the cashier told us no, we had to come in the next day. The manager was on site and allowed her to treat us the way she did and when we asked for the owner and their information they told us they weren’t there and couldn’t give us any information on how to contact them. It didn’t make any sense for her to act the way she did and there was definitely a better way for her to say what she needed to say. I have walked into plenty of businesses right before closing and was still serviced because I made it in BEFORE THE CLOSING TIME or was simply TURNED AWAY because they were done accepting customers. We will NEVER spend our money here again! There are far too many better sandwich shops out there for them to treat people the way she did!! I feel for the owners because the people they have working for them are going to run all their business away behaving like that! They ought to...
Read moreThis place and food are HORRIBLE! I ordered a steak sandwich, fries with sauce and several hoagies. By the time I walked from this place to my car, which was parked in front of the business, and sat in the car to taste the steak sandwich. It was COLD! The "cook" wrapped a cold steak sandwich in foil not expecting me to eat it in the car. I returned it and received another mildly warm sandwich, which was disgusting and soggy. The fries were stale.
At home, my husband unwrapped his hoagy, tasted it and discovered it lacked oil and cheese. Yes, the oil and cheese were missing not only from his turkey breast sandwich, but also from the other sandwich. I purchased two choke sandwiches.
The cashiers are not only handling dirty money, but, without washing their hands, they are preparing food for the customers. The Hispanic cashiers (male and female) are NOT utilizing sanitary methods to prepare food after handling money. This is so unsanitary! (I told the cashier I wanted the cook to prepare my food because of the sanitary issues. He put on clean rubber gloves and prepared my food.) I wonder how many people became sick after eating this nasty food due to the cashiers cross-contaminating the food with the money. A health inspector from Dolton needs to inspect the place, the employees unsanitary practices, issue tickets and SHUT THEM DOWN!
This is definitely NOT Home of the Hoagy located in Chicago's Morgan Park neighborhood.
I can not explain why anyone would rate this disgusting place with more than one star. Perhaps, th employees are rating this place to make it seem like someone really loves the food. Well, I HATED IT. I wish I could rate this LESS THAN ONE STAR. Rating this place with ONE STAR IS TOO...
Read moreThe other day I ended up here after a miserable attempt to get the original Home of the Hoagy in the Morgan Park neighborhood. Pulling up you're welcomed by ample parking. The old building has seen better days for sure. You walk in and it's cold, and obvious water damage to a few ceiling tiles and areas of some walls. On this day it wasn't packed but I've seen them serve a line out the door and get customers in and out faster than Home of the Hoagy can take orders. Upon my turn I was greeted respectfully and with enthusiasm. I returned the greeting and then proceeded with my order of two double steaks and one larger supreme Hoagy. I waited about 5 minutes, my order was ready and sent about my way.
The business is still cash only so keep that in mind. The food is of adequate portion to cost ratio and always delivers. I personally would love to see them reinvest into the building to make it more inviting. My comfortability eating here comes more so being able to see through the window at the food being prepared.
I recommend this over Home of the...
