Which restaurant gimmick is your favorite: sushi bar, all-day happy hour, sub $1 beers, all-you-can-eat sushi? Well, Crazy King Kong Sushi has them all.
Normally I avoid restaurants with the word "crazy" in the name because it is usually an empty promise. But restaurant lives up to its name and wears it with pride. A crazy menu with many crazy choices that would satisfy a hungry giant gorilla.
One reason I love this restaurant is because there is something for everyone: gluten-freers, vegans, carnivores and pescatarians, rejoice! They offer nigri, sashimi, a dizzying array of sushi rolls, baked/cooked specialties, bento boxes, and ramen, yakisoba, and udon soups. Plus other hard-to-find items like yakitori, shrimp shumai, and takoyaki. In a nutshell, there is something for everyone.
Service was medium: we were there on a busy Friday night and, although we were seated immediately, it took longer than expected to get our food but not terribly longer.
Our family of 4 ordered bento boxes and sushi rolls; total was $60 plus tip. All-you-caneat is $30. So this Crazy King Kong Sushi isn't crazy expensive.
Located in the Janss Marketplace. So it's a great place to eat before or after a movie. Or take advantage of the cheap happy hours beers and sake bombs while the kids jump around...
Read moreTerrible terrible service!!
I mean it.. waitress literally ignored us, did not even care to make an eye contact so we would give our order. Seriously!!! Not very professional. If you want to keep your business up and running you have to satify your customer with sincere welcome and service. This place was a joke!
It does not matter how delicious the meal is if the service sucks, i do not go to the restaurant again.
We went there at 18.05 and sitted right away by the ladty at the door. Reataurant was not fully crowded. My son and I waited almost 10 mins to give our orders. None of the waitresses came by so o called the lady at the door and gave our orders. We waitied till 18.35 and i got very annoyed. I told the lady that at least they could bring the soup. She brought the soup. 5 mins later at 18.45, waitress brought the rest of the order. As soon as we are done with the food (there was nothing spectecular about the food by the way. The portions were tiny) I waited for waitress to ask for the check. She skipped me couole of times. I had to ask for the check to the lady at the door again. I usually tip them 15-20% but this time i less than 10%. If you want to have a good sushi, nice and fast service go to Sumo. You will not regret.
I wish i could have given -5...
Read moreThis place has it's ups and downs. One some days the fish is fresh, the rice has a clean taste, and the presentation is pretty. The matcha is usually quite tasty and the service is prompt. On other days, the meal tastes like it was made for a bland palette, and the presentation is slap dash. The servers love to clear your plates immediately and have zero respect for personal space. The wait times are also ridiculous, considering there will be maybe three other patrons. During busy times, sure I'll wait for my lobster roll. But when there's barely anyone in the shop? Come on, that's just silly. During the busy times it's a nightmare. Not because of the service or the food, but because this is the suburbs. And suburbs mean parents take their kids out for lunch in the middle of a Wednesday. Not once have I gone in during the lunch or dinner rush and not heard a baby crying loudly or a toddler screaming. If you get irritated by that sort of thing, don't go. At least not during rush hours. If you're one of those parents who have a screaming toddler or you've gone so far down the rabbit hole, you don't even hear it anymore then congratulations, you just found your new go to lunch spot. I recommend the Energy roll....
