My friend and I visited Olive Cafe tonight for the very time and absolutely LOVED every single bite! Feeling adventurous, we both ordered different items off of the menu in order to each sample the different offerings. I highly recommend doing the same! We ordered the falafel & hummus sandwich & fries (excellent), the Olive Cafe Gyro (perfectly flavored beef and very delicious!), hummus (very creamy and delish- I promise you’ve never had one like this- so good!), creamy lentil soup (I can’t wait to order more!), stuffed grape leaves (I normally would refrain but tried them and loved the flavor!), baklava (the pistachios took this dessert to a whole other level- very good!), and finally, a warbat dessert, a custard filling enveloped in a crispy, sweetened piece of phyllo dough and all I can say is o.m.g. (if you don’t order one of these with your dinner, it will be a big disservice to your taste buds). Tony (the owner) and Genesis (his helper friend up front) were some of the nicest people that I have met! Very personable and kind. We went around 4:30 so we had time to chat a bit- so fun and enjoyable. Without a doubt, I’m going back. I have a list of dinner and lunch dates planned with friends that I want to introduce to our newest international piece of deliciousness. Thank you, Olive Cafe, for coming to Topeka!

My bestie and I finally had the opportunity to try this place out. When we first walked in, we were hit with the wonderful fragrance common to Mediterranean food. The place was very clean. There were beautiful stained glass light fixtures that I couldn’t keep my eye off. The colors flowed together perfectly. There a quaint meeting area in the back. Hope you don’t mind sitting on the cushions on the floor. We will do that next time. But the food, for starters we had grape leave, and baba Ghanouji! The flavors were wonderful. They blended together for the ultimate experience. We had the Gyro sandwich and Beef Shawarmah. The sandwich was enough to eat half then and take the rest home. If you are a coffe lover and need a good boost, try the Turkish coffee in a beautiful little coffe cup. Beautiful We had to top it off with dessert, of course we had to try the baklava. But we were given a complimentary Warbat. The owner said we would be happy eating it. And I would say we left happy. We had a wonderful conversation with the owner as if we were long time friends. We will definitely be back! We love the diversity that is slowly making it’s way into Topeka.

The aroma when walking in was phenomenal! Made me even more excited to try the food. I already knew I enjoyed Mediterranean food. I got lamb gyro with hummus and I side of fries. My husband got beef gyro with tatziki sauce with a side of fries. Then we shared an order of baklava. We both agreed we like my husbands order better. We preferred the beef and the tatziki. The hummus was delicious, however I would have preferred it as a side with pita instead of in my gyro. I got a bottle of water for 99 cents and my husband got a glass bottle of strawberry carbonated drink. We will absolutely come back. I was excited to hear the have messenger coffee, we love them, and I work downtown so I’ll be happy to stop by for coffee. Also, I’ve never tried Turkish/Arab coffee and I will be back to try that too. Service was fine, they were nice enough, out order was correct, however I heard two other customers had incorrect orders or took a long time to get their food. Overall great experience and excellent food.

The food is amazing! I had the Shawarma with beef the first time, it was excellent. The meat and sauce and all the goodness that came in it was incredible. The desserts are all sooo good. The flavors from this place were like something one would have to get in the big cities and yet, the prices equal to any fast food chain. This is a locally owned restaurant and the owner does the cooking, with the knowledge of the unique flavor of Kooser cooking. The menu is simple and the food is so fulfilling. Even Gordon Ramsey would give this place 5 f'ing stars. I was told when I was younger that when the cook is Happy the food is delicious and I believe that this cook is happy because I walked away feeling happy for the rest of the day. Cheers to this new restaurant located in Downtown Topeka.

Clean and very welcoming. The owner was great and even gave us the last warbat for free so we could try it. He said it would make me happy and it did😉. So delicious! The other deserts were very yummy as well. The gyros were good although I expected the meat to be a bit different. I’ve had gyros before where they are literally shaving the meat off a spit roaster and in my mind that’s how I had envisioned it. Still over all good flavor. My husband ordered the hummus and gyro sandwich and I honestly liked it better than the olive cafe gyro. But then he liked mine better;) For my youngest we got him the shawarma sandwich and it was delicious. Lots of flavor. Will be back:) It’s great to have new flavors and nice people in Topeka.

Very excited to try out the new Greek restaurant in town. Everything was great, a bit pricey, but in this day and age,it was reasonable for the quality. We ordered grape leaves and gyro plates. The grape leaves were mostly rice filled. Both the fries and the grape leaves had what I think was sumac powder dusted on them. (Unique and tasty.) The gyros (husband ordered lamb, I did beef) were filled to overflowing with meat and sauce. The sauce was minty and fresh tasting but lacked the cucumber component. This might just be their recipe. Overall a positive experience. I think they might need an expansion already - place was packed and very limited on a Saturday downtown. :)
