Ramona's Mexican Food — Restaurant in Torrance

I go to El Camino College and some friends of mine from school recommended this place to me I was excited at the prospect of having good Mexican food within walking distance of school. I walk there and have two enchiladas and a Chile relleno. The enchiladas were orange greasy pieces of crap. I make enchiladas myself and my week old enchiladas would still taste better. I have no idea what the abomination was that I ate called a chile relleno. I'm used to just a chili stuffed with cheese, they had it in bread, not breaded but inside bread and the cheese was awful. At first I thought maybe it was the style of a Latin country I am not familiar with. But the restaurant says Mexican food and I've never seen them that style. This was utter garbage. Avoid this place, if for some reason you think this place can't possibly be this bad buy just 1 enchilada and if you haven't lost your taste buds in some freak accident then you will realize everything I've said is true and you will have to saved your self money I didn't so in closing this place tastes awful and avoided...

We have gone to Romonas since they moved to that location, and have gone to others in the area too. It was our go-to for to-go. However, over the past few years we have seen the menu change and the prices go way up. Yesterday, we left agreeing with each other that was the last time. We do not want to spend$13-$15 per plate for combinations that would cost less in a sit down restaurant and taste better. The tacos shells are not made from "real" tortillas, they are formed shells like Taco Bell. The beans and rice, and red or green chili with beef or chicken (no pork🙁) and taco meats sit in big bins. The food is assembled and then reheated in ovens. The flavor is good but not exceptional, the tacos get soggy before you get home (it's to go only), and the portions are adequate (enchiladas were on the thin side, and the tacos had much more lettuce than cheese or meat together). In these times there are plenty of to-go Mexican restaurants that provide better choices and more original food for less, than we received...

My first experience with Ramonas was from my friends that are very familiar with it from the original location. They brought about $80 worth of lunch to my house - it was delicious! Recently someone told me about the new opening of one near my house on Crenshaw. I stopped by there yesterday and ordered a chicken and a beef taco (hard shell) with rice and beans, chips and salsa $16 plus. I got home which is very close to this location - I was so hungry and the chicken taco was all greased out and my beef taco was a potato taco (everything was very soggy) I dipped my chip into the salsa that tasted awful. I tossed everything in the trash. Sorry but I am not going back! This is owned by someone other than the original place. Too bad, I was looking forward to this being my go to place for...
