Houlihan's — Restaurant in Town of Babylon

First and last time here. Visited today, Valentine's day to get something to eat and drinks before a movie, place was pretty empty and got a seat in the bar area. Since this was first time visiting I needed time with menu and waiter was patient with us. But that's where it ends, basically ordered a sampler plater, a dish with scallops and French onion soup. Only good thing on the plates were potato skins and wings, the stuffed mushrooms are worth avoiding and everything else was way over salted, so if you are watching your intake stay away. What's worse is the French onion soup was light as if watered down and so salty couldn't even finish half of it. Brought it to the waiters attention and he told us that's not the first time he's been told or probably the last, claims reported it to management and they don't care. He was nice enough to offer to bring me something else in it's place but not nice enough to remove that nasty sink water from my bill. Oh had water brought to table in mismatched glasses, ordered a long island ice tea, price 8.50, but top shelf is only 50 cents more, didn't know had a choice but obviously the bartender didn't know how to make one, and a bottle of white Zin, at least they couldn't screw that up. Be prepared to walk out $80.00 lighter without even eating a main course. Will not be going back or recommend anyone going unless you like lots of salt. If management reads this let me just tell you, start sampling what you serve, you can add spice at the table you can't take it away later. I will not care to hear from you and try to make it somehow better, I'm one of those, you don't impress me first time you don't get a second. Honestly would rather go to McDonald's than to return to your establishment, and I hate fast-food places. Hope you guys eventually get it...

I ordered three stuffed chicken breast today. They were really sour. The chicken tasted like it was defrost and frosted several times. The filling tasted really sour like expired milk. I called the place. The manager was not helpful at all. Said he couldn't do any thing till Monday and mind you today is Friday. And he also said it was going to take at least 10 days for a refund. When refund take 3-7 days to hit your account, he definitely doesn't know what he is doing. He said it would take 13 days at least for a refund more than 2 weeks. I don't understand how this place is ran. Why would I have to wait, l am a restaurant manager, I know the business. I know if you go to the online portal you could give people an instant refund. yes it will take a couple days to hit back your account but not more then 2 weeks like he said. This shouldn't be an excuse for you not to give me a refund when the food was clearly bad. Some of the chips I ordered were really stale which means that they mix an old batch and a new batch together. the salsa that came with It was definitely expired. I didn't receive an apology, Which is what I was looking for. All I got from him is I had no issues with the food today. mind you all three people that I had with me order the same exact food and said exactly the same thing about the food. We did not eat our meal. The way this got handle is unacceptable. Maybe this manager has to get his butt up from his chair and do his job. Go check labels go make sure that they're not selling old food and make sure that the food that should be thrown out. Doesn't get a new label put on it. This is a Health...

We were pleasantly surprised by Houlihans, and we enjoyed our meal at the Houlihans in Farmingdale. We honestly did not have high expectations for the meal at this chain restaurant, and a couple of Houlihans in our area have been shuttered up, but this restaurant met or exceeded any expectations we may have had. The menu is pretty extensive, and has something sure to please every palate. Food came out hot, presentation was very nice, and each dish was very flavorful. Prices were quite reasonable. Our waitress was very pleasant, and very helpful. A number of people in our party were changing their orders, but our waitress was unfailingly patient and knowledgeable about the items on the menu, and wonderful at suggesting one or another dish, and recommending substitutes. We were impressed that, in spite of a decent number of people dining, service was prompt and efficient. We also liked that it was easy to hold a conversation, without resorting to raising our voices. We normally are not fond of Sports Bar type restaurants, and although there were televisions broadcasting games, these were unobtrusive. Altogether, a very nice balance between entertainment and atmosphere. Decor is pleasant, parking is very good (Houlihans is adjacent to a large Walmart), and location is great, being near several major highways.
