Golden Corral Buffet & Grill — Restaurant in Town of Colonie

Ok so the first time I went here It wasn't too bad except the fact I took my kids to the ladies room to wash their hands and that was absolutely disgusting to the point i felt grossed out and no longer wanted to eat there but I figured we are already here my kids are hungry and we live 2 hours away. Now we went back a second time because again we were passing through the area and AGAIN the bathroom was gross! So as my brother and I plus my kids are sitting down eating next to the wall closest to the register when you first walk in. I here my brother yell oh hell no and then spit his food out as we are all eating 30 min into being there so I'm like what in the world is wrong with you so he then tells me to look at the wall that our table is pushed against and it's a roach crawling I was absolutely disgusted I told him to immediately get my kids ready and I tryed to take a picture but it quickly ran into a small hole on the wall. So I went to find the manager and I couldn't believe what she said to me which was.... first of all it seemed as if she tryed to hush me and quickly try to refrain from being loud about the subject and then she says well I apologize this is a restaurant that carries food such as poultry and produce so stuff like this does happen. Um excuse me? Yes maybe customers can bring these disgusting things into the restaurant but if you were on top of pest control coming here customers would not see this type of stuff WHILE they are eating! Then she proceeds to say I will make a phone call to pest control tomorrow will you be leaving? We most DEFINITELY WILL BE LEAVING. AND THEN SHE PROCEEDED TO GIVE US A REFUND SO NOW IT'S BEEN 2 WEEKS AND STILL NO REFUND HAS BEEN PLACED BACK ON MY CARD! I WILL BE CALLING MY BANK AND PUTTING IT IN AS A DISPUTE! AS WELL AS CALLING SOMEONE WHO IS OVER THAT...

I'm an over the road truck driver and wanted something different from the typical truck stop for dinner. I arrived a bit after 6pm on saturday 6-9. I had just gotten my salad and sat down when a group from a dance recital came and sat in the area I was in, I have to say they were very well mannered. Shortly after that 4 charter busses loaded with kids came in. As these children cleared the cash register it was like someone opened ALL the cages at the zoo. They were loud and very obnoxious. I was almost knocked down several times and pushed in front of several more times😠😠. At that point I asked to see a manager, the young lady said she was. I told her what had happened and that I was going out to my truck to wait for them to leave and then I would come back in to finnish my meal. She apologized and said that would be fine. When I went back in after they left I sat in Reginas' section, she was AWSOME, very attentive always checking to see if I needed anything and I enjoyed the rest of my meal.

I would like to suggest that next time bus loads come in that a member of management goes out and addresses them prior to exiting the bus and remind them that there are other patrons eating and they are expected to act accordingly and show some kind of manners and common courtesy. I realize this is a family restaurant kids will be kids however there comes a point when enough is enough.

My dad wanted to go for his birthday so...here we go. Honestly it wasn't bad, we all make choices in life and if you can be discerning about your food choices then you can come out with a well-balanced meal...or just a gut punchings superfest. I think as the only non-senior, non-birthday person there, I was about $15, which isn't doing it for me personally as a price point because I like more than just food when I go out. Anway, our server never came back to refill our drinks, probably because we just wanted water. I got their "strip steak" off the grill and this smoked sirloin behind the counter, which were both really good! He even found me a rare piece that was actually rare and it was super tasty. The one thing that was very mysterious was that there was no easy way to talk to anyone behind the steamer trays to get this food...there was some other featured cajun rice dish that had a similar fate. I'm not sure if this is a strategy of Golden Corral to make their advertised special meals hidden, but if it is, that is an abhorrent practice. You literally had to talk through crevices in the glass to ask anyone questions and it didn't seem like they were putting anything into steamer trays for access.
