While the food was excellent, there were staff issues which need to be addressed. First of all, we arrived early to meet another couple for brunch. At first we were told we couldn’t be seated until the other couple arrived, however they put our name on their list of people waiting to be seated. We were willing to wait our turn to be seated, but I asked if we could be seated before the other couple arrivesand have a drink. With a disgusted look, the hostess agreed. 1) Not acceptable to give negative looks to customers. The second issue is what happened when our waiter left the check & credit card machine at our table. I ran my card on the machine and pressed the button to get a printout of my receipt. Then the machine asked if I needed any other options & I answered NO. A short while later I was told that the receipt printed out of the back of the machine, but it wasn’t mine. I explained what happen to the waiter & he said the machine ran out of paper. I asked for the receipt to be reprinted & he said it couldn’t be done. Knowing that it was possible to do, I asked him to find out how to do it. He told me that they were too busy to do that. Also that his manager would have to stop cooking to take care of my problem. So I wrote out a receipt for our orders on a piece of paper and asked the waiter to have his manager sign it. Later he comes back with a reprint of my receipt. So obviously the paper in the machine was changed, which would have been needed for the next paying table anyway. And obviously the waiter got someone to help him get the reprint I requested…….all things he should have done when I brought the problem to his attention. 2) Not acceptable to tell customers that staff is too busy to resolve problems. Also not acceptable to tell customers they pressed the wrong button on the credit card machine and tell the customer they’re...
Read moreThe hostess needs a serious attitude check and the management needs to reorganize their servers. We went for lunch today, on a Friday, and got there at 11:30, so it really wasn’t busy, maybe 1/4 of the restaurant was full. We were seated immediately and told our server would be with us in a couple minutes. 15 minutes go by and no one had been over so I asked the girl that sat us if she could help us. She went to check with the host stand, we didn’t see her for another 10 minutes until she finally came back to take our order. She was nice, apologized for the wait, and seemed to put a rush on our food. We ate, were checked on once and said we were all set so she came back with the paper check instead of checking us out on the little handheld machine. We were paying with card and waited another 15 minutes before we got up and walked to the host stand. The host had a serious problem with that, said we needed to go wait at our table and I said we’ve been waiting and I don’t know where our server is. She asked who it was and I said she didn’t give us her name because she wasn’t supposed to be our server to start with, but she was the host from earlier who sat us. This REALLY pissed off the current host because she said “no I am always the host and it’s only me”. Alright well then you tell me where my server is because we can’t find her. She randomly appears from around a corner, we’re given no apology, no explanation, just attitude and more attitude. Really sucks because the food is actually really good. I’d give this place one more chance, but if the customer service was anything like today then they’re 100%...
Read more[ ] If i could give 10 stars, I would. My sister Barb and I stopped at Silo for brunch today. She had been once before, but this was my first, but certainly not my last visit. From the time we were greeted at the door to the time we left, it was the most enjoyable restaurant experience, for me, in quite a long time. Miles, our server was attentive, courteous and patient (while I made my decision off the incredible menu). As we were winding down, we asked to speak with the chef, who, we were advised had stepped out briefly. So Jeff, the general manager stopped by our table and we sang the praises of the establishment. Everything, from Miles, to our drinks and most impressively, the dishes we ordered. Soon thereafter, Eriksson, the chef returned and stopped by our table. We reiterated how pleasurable our experience was. Everything is homemade, on sight. My sister ordered a Mocha for her drink and the Mom's Chicken and Dumplings (but better). She even went so far as to mention the peas still had a bite to them, they didn't disappear into the dish. The Cheddar, Asiago & Rosemary Buttermilk Biscuits that accompanied her dish were like butta! But butter was not needed. So flaky and delicious. So good, I ordered some to go with my dish. I ordered the Espresso Martini for my drink and the Shrimp and Grits. Five melt in your mouth shrimp, andouille sausage, and a velvety, perfectly poached egg sat atop the silky smooth grits. The biscuits I ordered were the perfect accompaniment. We highly recommend you give Silo a try. You certainly won't be disappointed. Follow-up: even leftovers of the generous portions...
