It is beyond me why this place wasn’t more packed. I always like to get a burger for the first time, and this might have been one of the best burgers I’ve ever had. It was cooked to my liking, not only juicy but had a beautiful crunch to the outside that held in the flavor. The meat was excellent. The bun was even AMAZING—Fluffy and such a delicate light flavor that was so so good. I ate the whole thing! I got the seasonal vegetables instead of the potato fries, which consisted of roasted carrots, (that were amazingly juicy and tender). - Everything was seasoned so well. - The broccoli, cauliflower and zucchini were packed flavor in a way that wasn’t too overwhelming, but delicious. The potato fries were SO good too!! Crunch on the outside and moist on the inside. Cooked so well and seasoned to perfection. Both were amazing. The Oak Chalet in Bellmore not only had kind waitstaff who took good care of our table, kept our drinks replenished and us comfortable. The DELICIOUS food and great, cozy atmosphere that made you feel at home will definitely bring us back again..❣️ (I mean look how cute the detail in the chairs even are in the backs with hearts!!) so cozy and oh so sweet! It should never be a place to have been so empty!

My favorite German spot on LI! This place is great. The staff are all friendly and make you feel like family. I don't think the decor has changed since the 80s but it's so classic and kept very clean. And the food is out if this world. I went with the wurst platter with potato pancakes. You get 3 sausages in total. One pork, one beef, and one veal. All a good size with distinctly different tastes. The pork was my favorite with a bit of a smoky flavor to it. The potato pancakes were nice and crispy. They had a soft inside and were the best with a spoonful of applesauce on top. I also tried the Jagerschnitzel. This was probably my favorite Jagerschnitzel I've ever had in a restaurant. It's veal, not pork, and between them cooking it perfectly and the taste of the mushroom sauce, I was in love. For desert, I went with a peach Melba. I believe it was Häagen-dazs ice cream, a fresh sliced peach on top, and a layer of raspberry jam. Great way to end the meal.

We took a drive today to oak chalet in Bellmore. I think over the years we tried almost every german restaurant in the area. So the oak was on of the missing ones. We started of with the pretzel wich was really good. For Main course we had the sauerbraten and Schnitzel Holstein. The kids sausage and Spätzle. Everything was taste less and not even close to any kind of german cusine. It really taste like hospital or retirement food … how that taste ? Like nothing taste less … They charged $10 for a small riesling glass and $9 for beers prices like manhattan on long Island. If you can dont waste your time and money go there nothing good when it comes down to food and german beer you can get now in any good restaurant or Bar. I think from all we tried now this will get the crown for the last place… Totally overpriced for the food you get …

I dined there tonight. I wish I hadn't; but, learned a lot!

I had high hopes. I Love Germanic/American cuisine.

In general: the service; decor; ambiance; hygiene; overall cleanliness; the dirt of the restrooms; ability to get a table; the portion sizes; beverage options; dessert options; parking space availability; seating floor walkability; table spacings; table sizes; management seeming attentiveness; perks, like: salad; bread; wait staff good manners; warm customer service; courtesy wooden matches; business cards; no to-go menus; no drink refills; freshly made whipped creme topping free refreshes; option for outdoor seating when available; which it wasn't tonight; &, NEVER seems to be; either; plus, nicely: no nickel & dime-ing price structures; clearly stated menu descriptions & pricings, hi-quality of patron's behavior levels; low degree of patron noise; etc.; were all NO good!; or: completely Non-existent!

However, I fully regret choosing to sample 2 personal favorite main dishes; &, appetizers; along w/: multi beverages; etc.; &, even w/: compensatorily-offered: free bread; it ended up costing, me: a, obscenely shocking, uber-heavy sub-total of: over-priced $75.00+ U.S.!!;...plus: then, also, added-on; staff, intentional: check, mistaken miscalculations!

I regretted eating there; because, the foods were: beyond bland; &, beyond mild; they were: tasteless to the point of insipidness!;...&, the, included tomato w/: German burger, tasted so funny, I knew if I consumed it, I'd get very much even more physically sick!!!, then the illness I had, the last time I gave this place a, 2nd chance!

Also, altho; they, didn't object to providing: "to go" containers, &, double bags; upon request; &, even offered to insert food in tins, for: leftovers, for me; I could not bring myself to do so, for major reasons:

The to-go containers would clearly: Not survive the, walking; &, public transportation trip homeward.

The food was so lifeless that there was No worth in taking it anywhere off the table, so I offered it back to the waitress, as a charity freebie, to anyone, who might eat it; &, even, she rejected it; &, refused the whole idea!.

Altho, I've had even more annoying; &, aggravating: live, Mexican eatery Mariachi players assaulting my dining experiences; tonight's LOUD Accordian player; LOUD CROWD; &, the, LOUD Happy B-Day singing, was much worse, than: normally, reasonably: intolerably, Maddening!

Sadly, the dessert; the spaetzle; the burger pretzel roll; ETC.; were ALL such simple foods to get right, but, they, did NOT; &: that made it very mind boggling, as to: why, the semi-concerned; &, conscientous owners, have not, long ago: replaced their kitchen staff!!

I, personally, have: NO interest, in the free; courtesy table wine drinks; nor: in, any booze, period; but, had wanted so badly to just simply attend the Oktoberfest celebratory function. Now, my memory of tragically; &, shamefully: wasting close to $100+; after including tips; gratuities; travel costs; needed re-orders; coverage of mistakes made; miscellaneous expenses; &, etc., has so soured me w/: bitter memories of extreme disappointment; that: I, can NOT ever return, At All.!

At least, tho, they, do have: Non-Alcoholic Germanic Brew; albeit: &, Most Sadly: ONLY 1, type, to choose from; &, also: excessively sweetened ice tea. They do have some good items, which ONLY, have: much potential, on their menu fare.

Tragically, they all were ruined by poor kitchen taste; RUDE staff; small portions; HIGH PRICES; &, all of their potential pleasure sensations, being: totally stripped, from them.

When there are: zero; or: little; or: drowned; buried; sugar-suffocated; or: sauce buried flavors, in foods; &, beverages, there is: NO joy in eating; but, what there was plenty of; is: Only Rage; yes, great; great anger; &, much sadness; strong misery; along w/: some illness; &, grave remorsefullness; mixed inseperably together w/: deep regrets!!.

Caveat Emptor!/Buyers BeWare!

I have been to many German restaurants in my life and this one was not good. I will say the waitress was great. The wait for food was long. The salad was as if someone just threw stuff on a plate. The app I ordered was the stuffed cabbage which in my opinion was not good. We passed it around to get everyone’s opinion (6 of us) no one liked it. One person said it smelled nasty. The other apps were herring and livers which I was told was good. 4 of us had the jagershnitzel which was very disappointing. The gravy tasted like it was from a jar. The vegetables that came out for 4 of us to share was in a small dish and I swear this was so unappetizing. At least make it look pretty. Not one of touched the vegetables. One of us was not feeling well after eating. Haven’t checked with the rest of our party yet to see if anyone else was not feeling well. We will not go back. Unappealing and overpriced which is a shame because it’s a good location and and a nice looking place. I will drive to Glendale Queens to Zumstummish when I want German food and when I’m down in Myrtle Beach we will go to Cafe Viennia which is the best German food I have ever had in my...
