We recently ordered takeout from Penn’s Thai Cafe under its new ownership, and WOW, what a treat!
We’ve been fans of the chef owner’s cooking for a long time, so when they opened their own restaurant, we couldn’t wait to try it. You can truly taste the passion and authenticity in every dish.
The pad prick nor mai made with fresh bamboo, was a standout and something rarely found at this level outside of Thailand. We also had the kra pow moo grob (crispy pork basil stir fry) which was perfectly balanced - crispy, savory, and packed with flavor. Their pad Thai was excellent as well, with a rich depth of flavor and tanginess that sets it apart from the usual.
For appetizers, the minced pork bun with egg and the crab rangoon were a delightful surprise. They were comforting, flavorful, and a great way to start the meal. We didn’t get a chance to try their newest dessert, i-Tim Kati (coconut ice cream), but it is definitely on our list for next...
Read moreDecent lunch option. The seating area is tiny. 9 tables 30 people max. But they offer take out. When I visited on Wednesday noontime there was just one lady to attend the tables, however very capable of keeping up with customers demands. The two cooks behind the scene equally skilled to prepare the food. Accepted credit card payments only for over $8. I had the Pad Thai Curry that was graciously executed with minced cashew nuts on the side. My only disappointment was the portion size. Not the rice noodle but the pork meat added to the dish. Just 5 bites in total. For the price one would expect a little bit more. Appreciated the warm cup of soup as starter however is not possible to order larger soups until after 3 pm. Which is somewhat...
Read moreThe best and most fresh Thai food around. We get Thai food every Friday at the office and have tried all the restaurants in the area. This is absolutely the best. The spices are from fresh peppers they grow themselves unlike some places that use cayenne powder. I asked about ghost peppers so they grew them for me to use in my dish. The Spicy noodle is a great dish (it's hot) and the hot and sour soup is the best I've had, since having it here I'm now disappointed everywhere else I go. Since we discovered this place, 3 years ago we've stopped going anywhere else and will order from Penns at least once to as much as 3...
