Hooligans Restaurant — Restaurant in Tuscaloosa

Food was not what I expected, and the customer service before I arrived was even worse. 2 stars instead of one because the server was friendly once I arrived. There is no online ordering platform and they will not take a credit card over the phone. I also inquired about large orders of more than 20 people - I was told I would need to fax the order that day early or call the day before to be able to order at quickly at opening of business. They open at 11am not 10:30am as stated (reason for the delay was COVID hours). I gave this restaurant 3 tries and I'm not going back. My first visit - no baklava - because I wasn't advised to check the fridge on the other side of the store during pickup. The first time I called in an order they confirmed twice that I wanted an "extra" order of fries with my plate. I had already ordered a similar combo meal that came with fries (the order was for 2 - not that it's relevant). 2nd time a friend picked up the food. I don't remember it being very good but at least I got the baklava that time. The 3rd visit I wasn't able to get anyone to answer the phone. They answered before they opened and wouldn't take my order. At opening of business, I called more than 4 times and received an unavailable recorded message. When I finally reached someone, I knew exactly what I wanted but I must have said something "incorrectly" because I was re-read the menu as if what I was saying wasn't pulled directly from the menu. I would rather drive to Birmingham than eat here again mostly because of the interactions prior...

Gyro meat wasnt that of the more traditional kind, it's not shaved and I dont think they use anything like a Vertical Kebab Grill.

The "greek salad" looks like something bought from a grocery store with shreds of carrots and red cabbage, unlike a traditional greek salad. There is no feta cheese in it, no cucumbers, no tomatoes and no pepperchini peppers, something I look forward to a traditional greek salad.

The tzatziki sauce does not taste fresh, there are no traces of dill and/or cucumbers, really disappointing.

We ordered a side of Tabouli Salad and suffice to say, it wasnt fresh either, there was mold growing on ours, see picture. We did receive a refund, they were nice about it, but didnt apologize.

Overall, I dont think we will be returning and dont reccomend if you are looking for "traditional" Mediterranean food or simple gyro. On the upside, the meat did taste good, it's just not what I look for when...

Usually this location has been great about ansswering the phone promptly, taking your order, and getting it right! And the food is ually excellent Tonight, was unacceptable. I tried calling for about half an hour. 31 times in total A few times the phone was busy, and the rest of the time it just kept ringing and ringing. I decided to go to the location and place my order. I asked the person taking my order if their phones were working, because I had been trying to call. She informed me that they had taken the phone off the hook just because they were busy. At the time my wife and I were in the restaurant, there could not have been more than 10 people in the entire place. If this was my business, I would want to know that I'm possibly losing money because my employees disconnected the phone. On a bright note, the food was EXCELLENT as always! We will continue...
