On a hot Wednesday afternoon, I rolled through for lunch and got the crab cake..."market price"....AND delicious 😋....it's hard to find a good crab cake sandwich outside of the warf or restaurants near the water around here, let alone, a good one. They give you this exceptional spicy, tangy remoulade dip which I haven't had anything quite like it before.

They lump you two good handfuls of tater tots and some ketchup packets in the to-go boxes, which can serve as storage for what you don't finish in the fridge or to use to reheat. I've seen some complaints about this presentation but I didn't have a problem with it but could understand if you came to eat in.

I also got their sweet tea with a good sugar to tea ratio.

I would definitely visit again....solo.

But, if I were to subtract a star, it would be for the same reasons other posters have shared. This spot, which is a bit hard to find because of its location on the entrance/exit path for the shopping center, feels more like a Georgia Ave Cary out....no disrespect intended. Georgia Ave. is arguably the heart of the HU neighborhood community and was once home of some of the most notable carry outs around.

IYKYK....but, if you have ever been on the strip waiting for your wings and Mumbo, and experienced that growing tension in the waiting area while more and more people enter and wait for their food. And, you just sit there waiting for something to pop off or someone to pop off because someone receives there order before someone who ordered before them?

That's how it feels in there...the atmosphere. It can get uncomfortably tense when many are waiting. There isn't really any dining space. The bar level tables in the front are more of a waiting area, and they have a few tables along the path to the bathroom, but it's tight and crowded and ultimately not really welcoming to eat in and enjoy your meal.

I agree that this location should just become a to-go location to remove that uncomfortable waiting aspect from the experience and prioritize an efficient and pleasant carry out experience.

While I was there, a woman brought back her order and claimed it was not prepared to her liking, and the attendant took it back and said he would prepare another without any argument... great customer service.

At the end of the day, despite the higher price point and the lack of comfortable waiting and eating area, the food was delicious, the establishment clean, and the workers friendly. But, for that price point and to maximize my overall dining experience, I would choose one of Milk and Honey's other locations with a dining area if I wanted the very best conditions to enjoy their delicious offerings and have a more pleasant dining experience which would certainly be best shared with family or...

Update May 2023: Although I never received a response from my two emails I sent per the below, I decided to give this establishment another try. While it's not the worst restaurant experience it's enough to make me stay away. Same guy, I believe he added Spinach to my dishes intentionally. The dish descriptions do NOT list Spinach as an ingredient. If this was listed I would have requested it to be omitted. Nonetheless, I will not be wasting anymore money there. Wish I've had a better experience. The hassle of receiving the correct order isn't worth it.

I normally patronize this business by at least two visits weekly. In the past I have received an incorrect order and brought it to the white American lady attention during my next visit. No problem mistakes happens. When I explained to her the wrong ordered received on my last visit, her response was "yeah we're busy on Sunday's". No apology. No problem I'll just check my order before I leave going forward. However, my most recent visit yesterday (11/18/2022) was extremely disappointing. I always request for my eggs to be scrambled not folded. I realized my eggs was prepared wrong and asked if they can be corrected. The Black American heavyweight guy remade my eggs but neglected to put cheese in them. He was dishonest when I asked did he put cheese in my eggs. I watched him make them did not see him put any cheese in them. I go to my car and taste the eggs and of course no cheese. I go back and inform the White American lady there's no cheese in these eggs she tries to give me shredded cheese on the side. Let's be clear, the turkey sausage biscuit comes with white American cheese not shredded cheese and the cheese is cooked and melted with the eggs. Nonetheless, it's saddened to know he sat there in my face and was dishonest. Once again everyone was unapologetic no sort of apology for their error. I simply...

I called on July 22 to place a to go order. I was told to go on to place the order online. I placed the order and traveled 25 minutes to pick up this order. No one contacts me in the mist of this entire transaction. I get to the location where I was told that there were no grits for the shrimp and grits. We orders two orders. Them we were told there were grits, but they don’t make grits that late in the afternoon when they were about to close so they refused to make the order. I was asked if I wanted cajun pasta instead as it was, what I'm assuming easier to make. I refused and then was told I would be given a refund, but that the general manager was not there and was the only person who could process refunds. I was asked to call back the next day to receive my refund, I have now been calling nearly daily since and it’s now August 4th not only have I not been contacted by the general manager, I am on her time. I’ve been told she’s out sick. I’ve been told she’s busy. I’ve been told she Will get to my order when she gets a chance to get in the location…ridiculous .I finally was told that a refund was being processed; I still have not yet received. I have been told from several staff person that the refund was processed according to the general manager but nothing . What’s most upsetting is that the manager could not even pick up her phone to rectify the situation herself after having to wait this long . Even more frustrating why isn’t there someone available in a business to process a refund. This is unacceptable. I am infuriated at this point. I feel as if this is being delayed as an attempt for me to forget that these monies are owed out to me. Completely unacceptable. This was my favorite location and now I’ll never be back. I’m most likely going to have to dispute this with my bank to get my money, which...

*LONG POST* I traveled from Raleigh, NC to D.C. for my birthday. The intent of the trip was to visit Gordon Ramsey’s Hell’s Kitchen, as I am an AVID FAN. Unfortunately, the trip was marred by the horrible experience I had there. On my way out, I craved some REAL FOOD and was told that Milk & Honey had a great brunch menu! After paying for DMV street parking for the past three days, I decided to call this place because if I had to pay to park, it would have been a NO! The woman answered the phone and was everything I needed. She explained that there was on site parking but limited seating. After answering my two questions, I hung up the phone and thought, “she was so pleasant.” Given that, I decided NOT to go to Milk & Honey but to the Cracked Eggery instead. That turned into a drive by because its not even a restaurant but more of a taco stand 🙄and I said screw it, Milk & Honey it is. Upon entering, I understood what the lady on the phone meant by limited seating. However the quaint restaurant DID NOT disappoint, NOR did Ms. Pat! She thanked us for choosing to eat there because we “could have been anywhere else.” She was polite, accommodating and the food was TO DIE FOR! If that was my last meal on earth, I’d go to God happy. We ordered the Cajun Shrimp & Grits and the Catfish & Grits! Baby… best I ever had!!!! This is by far a gem in Virginia. IDK what they do at the location at The Warf, but this location is not to be slept on! This was my third trip to D.C. and my first visit to Milk & Honey (VA), and mark this review, I WILL BE BACK! Thank you to the team for making my birthday special. Thank you Chef for making my tummy happy! Much love! 💕

I was 1 in a party of 6.. we were originally going to another location that could not accommodate us, lucky for us, because we ended up here. When we arrived the calming energy met us at the door. The staff smiled proudly & welcomed our presence. The building is cute & dainty, the music is relaxing, & the staff are very helpful, eager to answer questions & not once rushed us to place our orders or finish our meal. we were unsure of what to try, so basically, we tried it all & there wasn’t one thing that blessed our bellies that caused disappointment. the food is prepared to order (& doesn’t take forever to come out) and the presentation is arranged to enhance its aesthetic appeal. I can’t offer one complaint or regret & we all agreed that the 2 hour drive is worth coming back! Not pictured: rumchata french toast, turkey sausage or the “on the house” hot honey biscuits & peach cobbler cheesecake.
