I recently had the pleasure of dining at Greco, the newest addition to the fast-casual dining scene on 1335 Wisconsin Ave NW. Hailing from Boston, where it earned accolades from Boston Magazine, Greco has now brought its authentic Greek street-fare experience to Washington, D.C.
Upon entering, I was immediately drawn in by the lively atmosphere and the tantalizing aroma of Greek spices. The menu boasted a variety of tempting options, including pitas, salads, bowls, souvlaki, and more. Eager to explore, I took the recommendation to start with their classic gyro, and it did not disappoint. The combination of flavorful meat, fresh veggies, and the perfect blend of tzatziki sauce made for a memorable dish. It was the best gyro I had outside of Greece!
Not one to miss out on a true Greek feast, I also indulged in a Greek salad that showcased the freshness of the ingredients. The crisp veggies, feta cheese, and olives combined harmoniously, creating a salad that was both satisfying and refreshing.
To round off this culinary journey, I couldn't resist trying the loukoumades – Greek baby doughnuts. These little bites of sweetness were the perfect conclusion to my meal, leaving me with a satisfied palate and a desire to return for more.
Greco's commitment to providing an authentic Greek experience is evident in every detail, from the quality of the ingredients to the inviting ambiance. Whether you're a seasoned fan of Greek cuisine or a newcomer looking to explore, Greco is a fantastic choice that promises a delicious adventure for your taste buds. I highly recommend this gem on Wisconsin Ave – a true standout in the D.C....
Read moreOrdered a delivery order through their website and over $50 of food is missing plus there is no pita at all with anything. No one is answering the phone, email, nothing. Really horrible business practice and very disappointed. Do not order from here!!
Edit — as noted below, owners did reach out. They were generous with a refund for the missing food and gift card. What they fail to mention is this was multiple days after the incident. My partner and I were still stuck hosting a meal for a group for Greek Easter with over $50 dollars worth of food missing, all pita missing, and who knows what else. I gave another star because at least they did something rather than just taking our money and running.
In the moment, we had to get other food and had over an hour delay to eat as we tried to reach out any way we could to get this resolved. So although they did fix the issue, I think having to wait multiple days for a fast casual restaurant to respond, address, or really do anything at all is pretty egregious. They don’t answer the phone or email or through the app, so don’t bother. The food was fine, but again we waited an extra hour to eat as we tried to get this solved and eventually had to get other food so the Greco food was cold, soggy, congealed. I still would not recommend ordering from here, but think having an honest review of our situation is fair as it may help you make your own decision or maybe will help them develop some infrastructure for their operation to avoid this situation for other...
Read moreI rarely write reviews but must say I was extremely dissatisfied with this place and its business model. It was $17 for a bifteki bowl, which came with 2 measly patties of bifteki, one sad slice of tomato, and a handful of seasoned raw onion. It also came with some slices of pita. This is what was included with the "Plate" on top of which i got to add one "side". I chose the rice, but originally asked if the plate came with rice and was astonished when it was only an add on as a side dish. This is ridiculous considering the price. There was a salad bar which I thought would be available to put onto my plate (similar to chipotle or cava) but to my chagrin, they were for an additional cost. The food itself tasted fine, but was genuinely nothing special, super average greek fast food. Considering greek culture emphasizes family size portions and values such as togetherness, love, and abundance, I was extraordinarily underwhelmed and left with a pit of regret in my empty stomach for giving this place a chance. I genuinely wish that this place would increase the portion size even if it means increasing the price, as this is a meal I wouldn't wish upon anyone who aims to enjoy their day in the beautiful Georgetown...
